Do you think you will go abroad in 2021?

Do people really think this wont be under control by sept/Oct this year? With the majority of people vaccinated by then why cant the travel industry return to some sort of normality?

I have no confidence at all this will be the case. The government are saying now that even British travellers returning not only have to have a negative covid test but go straight to a local hotel manned by security and pay for it themselves. That will kill it completely. Aside from the costs nobody wants to be cooped up in a bloody Travelodge for two weeks. Add on other countries not letting flights in and I see no chance of foreign holidays happening. Even the vaccination route isn't hopeful. As soon as everyone is rejoicing along comes another strain to kill that hope. Sorry for the negativity but like many the strain is beginning to tell. The cynic in me thinks Boris wants everyone staying at home spending money here too.

I think some people are being too negative whilst some are being too positive.
We can't possibly imagine what the situation will look like in a few months time based on what is happening now or even what happened last year. We have a lockdown + the vaccines. There's every chance that the vaccines will do their job and this will free things up come May/June. But of course there is every chance that there will be some unexpected wrinkle or additional cock-ups by the government. Then of course we have to worry about what the situation might be like in Spain/France/Greece/US or wherever.

I'm optimistic but deep down know that something could happen to change things again very quickly.

Would like to but cant see it happening this year.
Plenty of places on bucket list in UK so will hopefully cross some of them off and hope its not pissing down the whole time. Really fancy Northumberland, so could be a good opportunity to hire a cottage and head up for a week.

Im supposed to be going to a wedding in Barcelona in May (he lives there) which was cancelled from last April. Looks unlikely again unfortunately. He went and got married anyway to do the formalities but would love to go and celebrate. Can't see it mind.

Not sure what else I would do, I recognise there are beautiful places here but the people are all cunts so usually like to go abroad where, they are probably also cunts but I can't speak their language so don't know for sure.
Haha great & true last paragraph.

It MAY BE to a degree under control here but traveling you need to look at the bigger picture, will it be under control where you're going to?

Looking at the queues at Heathrow over the weekend (I'm not having they are all "essential business" travelers) I fail to see why us mere mortals wont be allowed away in the summer when a combination of the season and vaccines are in our favour.

I'd rather sit here with a little bit of (Naïve) hope than wallow in the misery that others appear to be sadistically enjoying. (This isnt a dig at anyone just a genuine observation, certain people love telling everyone how shite life will be)

Was hoping to get over to France for 3-4 weeks in July. Will go if we can. If not we’ll take a tent and head to wherever the best weather is in the U.K. at the time.

I'm supposed to be going to Providencia (Colombian island) in April, Portugal in May (rolled over from last October), Ireland in July, Turkey in September and Portugal in October.

The only ones I am hopeful for are the ones after July.
