I am relieved that the selfish nature of Tevez is finally out in the open.
Earlier today, on the MEN site, I warned fellow City supporters to brace themselves for a concerted media campaign accusing the City management of ingratitude and portraying Tevez as the 'people's choice', a campaign that would seek to mimic the relentless pressure placed on Sergio Batista to include Tevez in the Argentine squad in the recent Copa America tournament. There have, of course, been indications of this campaign on Bluemoom with posters who first registered around the time it became clear that Tevez would not be leaving this summer and who have repeatedly urged that he start instead of Dzeko or instead of Aguero or instead of Nasri. Well it looks like Tevez has himself undermined that campaign.
At least we should now be spared journalists / commentators - besotted by Tevez - asking "surely Tevez will be starting against xxx?", "when will Tevez will be brought on?", "how can Mancini not start with someone who, as last year's leading scorer in the premier league, is ipso facto one of the best strikers in the world" -- yes, the same journalists and commentators who do not blink when Berbatov (the joint leading scorer in the premier league last season!) does not start even though Rooney and Hernandez are not available.
