Dominic Cummings

As far as I can tell, they don't want to be questioned.

Obviously currently one minister a day does the early morning rounds of BBC1, Sky, Radio4, but the govt had essentially boycotted the BBC for months as they got given a hard time, entirely coincidental to repeated attacks on the BBC and threats about funding. It gives the impression of trying to bully the BBC.

Impression, you say...

Don't forget how they have boycotted GMB since Morgan started to rip into them.
But all of this started even before the election. Boris refused to appear on big TV shows for questioning that almost all previous candidates had done. He ran away from doing the TV debate too. It's the strategy of populist governments to shun the "mainstream media" when it suits them. Don't believe the biased BBC, just believe us.

And finishing like Dancing Brave down the centre of the track is Alistair Campbell.

Dominic Cummings says he acted in the best interests of his son.

Alistair Campbell was at an event at The Serpentine with god knows how many others .
Blatant breach of rules.

Can we arrange a baying mob to castigate the man ?
All meet at Turf Moor say 8pm ish.
Pitchforks and flaming torches at the ready everybody ?

That’s excruciating reading.
The public is being made a fool of, and Ministers are knowingly making fools of themselves to perpetuate an impossible lie. It should stand as a salutary lesson for all parties as to why the protagonist ought to resign tout de suite.
Imagine this Government making post Brexit laws. Pre this fiasco I thought the UK Gov was only capable of criticising Euro laws and had lost the art of lawmaking. I now feel that this Gov will make laws that will allow it to be more undemocratic and vulnerable to manipulation by its preferred "advisors".

And rightly so
The man doesn’t let them answer any questions and peddles his all about me agenda
Why waste the time
Just watch sky or bbc
You may or may not think they are ‘soft’ on them but at the end of the day we can all decide what we think good or bad once we hear the answer or indeed avoidance of an answer
The thing that says it all about piers is he still has ronaldo as his pinned tweet
That’s more important than anything else he puts on Twitter as he just wants followers

If true that clearly isn’t a good luck. But Campbell is a member of the public not the PM’s advisor of policy and strategy

Maybe they all drove their in a bid to test their eyesight, that seems a reasonable excuse these days....

I have no problem with it happening on comedy programmes. The biggest mistake the BBC has ever made is that because it's supposed to be impartial, that means that every programme has to show all possible sides of a topic. There's nothing wrong with having Frankie Boyle writing a comedy show that's entirely from his perspective, and someone else writing a show from the opposite point of view (Top Gear under Jeremy Clarkson, for example). But yeah, the news should be impartial and watching that intro, it seemed like they were right to uphold the complaints.
It's a myth that the BBC is impartial. Perhaps it used to be sometime in the past but for as long as I can remember it's had its biases, lack of objectivity and sometimes even agendas.

None of that would matter were it not for the fact that they are supposed to be objective and impartial, and therefore a lot of people believe that they are and take what the BBC say as being gospel. So when in fact they are behaving like a lobby group, this is extremely dangerous.

Perhaps the most stark exsmple is its actual policy decision to not report on any climate-skeptic science or anything which might suggest that climate change may not be so extreme. A completely disgraceful position for a notionally objective news reporting organisation to assume. So on this topic it consistently peddles a biased, often uninformed and sometimes just downright wrong point of view, dressed up as objective and undeniable fact. It's bloody disgraceful.

Newsnight's Emily Maitlis has been found to have broken rules on impartiality within the BBC.
Opening the show with , what sounded like her own personal rant .
Off she went pouring out her rhetoric and telling viewers that they are offended and misled.
Should she be sacked for misuse of her position as a paid employee of the government funded broadcaster ?
Should reporters and demonstrators sit outside her house for days , terrifying her children and generally harassing the neighbours ?
Big yes from me.

I thought you were against such behaviour when directed at Cummings. Why would you now advocate it? Are you reading from the government manual on consistent messaging?

Still advocating mob rule I see.
