So at the very least the PM and Cummings should issue an apology. At least the credibility of a lockdown is somewhat intact then. Don’t think Maitlis will be too pleased with the BBC at the minute either.

I think we are in many ways in agreement. I don't think we are being played by Cummings though, he's just very lucky that the black and white issues have become mixed up with the arguable ones, meaning the whole lot gets dragged into a grey area. Just my take, but the fact he's not unemployed yet sort of supports this. Re the return to work, I think he claimed Dr's gad cleared this, although I agree it doesn't seem to match the 7/14 day SI the rest up us were told to observe.

\i\ts the eye test bollox that the Police say broke the lock down rules. No further action though despite having fined two other motorists for making a journey from London up to Co. Durham.

And before his appeasers come up with " ah but there is no fine " excuse - the argument wasn't over whether the punishment was fair it was about whether or not he broke the rules. Which its now plain in the eyes of the law he did. Interestingly he broke the rules making a journey that until the start of this week he denied he never made. Lies upon lies - to do it you have to be fucking smarter that Dumb and Dumber are.

No, I’m following the Prime Minister’s advice of judging for myself. I’m surprised that you are so quick to accept the explanation about the Durham trip when so much else that he said was demonstrably untrue.

Also, for someone who said they weren’t arsed whether he was telling the truth or not, you seem surprisingly keen to tell people that the childcare explanation is legit.

This development has been on the cards once he was forced to admit the trip. He could not lie as that poses a greater risk. So he came clean and the hope will be they can apply enough pressure to avoid him being issued a fine. That assessment would have been made before the fall out of the last couple of days. Police to make the next move.

The presenter who replaced her said the same thing - that it was Maitlis' request.

Sorry l cant recall where l got it- all the same source which said she had been taken off for her comments. Then it said she had tweeted she had taken night off. Then it mentioned another presenter drafted to replace her and then another BBC person said it was not because of her comments.
So who does anyone believe? I am inclined to think presenters do not decide take the evening off a couple of hours before going on air.
I think it was the Guardian article l read. Given the lies about City we see emanating from the BBC and Guardian on a regular basis it becomes harder and harder to spot the truth about this.
And people continue to die.
