Dominic Cummings

Seems to be two different stories about Cummings flying about. BBC reporting it this way:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52835982

In a statement, Durham Police said they view Mr Cummings' 50-mile round trip to Barnard Castle with his wife and son as "minor" because there was no apparent breach of social distancing rules during their visit.

The force said it had "no intention to take retrospective action in respect of the Barnard Castle incident", since this would amount to "treating Mr Cummings differently from other members of the public."

The statement confirmed that the force had not taken retrospective action against any other person.

On the issue of whether it was an offence for Mr Cummings to drive himself and his family from London to Durham to isolate on his family's farm, Durham Police said it did "not consider an offence was committed".

So the initial trip wasn't a problem all along as so many argued otherwise. The visit to Barnard Castle may have been a minor issue. So what has amounted to a witch hunt by the UK media and most on here has been resolved by the police as a minor issue. No need for all those on here who had a go at me to apologise, I have blocked you so won't see it

The statement confirms he breached the rules. What the police don't say is what they would have done if they had found him wandering around Barnard Castle, they dont say it as the answer is they would have fined him.

Would they not let you do it as an appointment only service locked door only 1 in shop obviously with the number on the door to do an instant appointment some authorities have allowed this in similar circumstances.
i did do some emergency stuff via appointment ( a robbed food bank and some nhs stuff)
No mate. I have hit on a cunning plan though. Outdoor markets can now operate so i'm gonna move my key machines outside and have a pop-up stall.

The problem with the Police assessment of this case is that they also confirm they have issued fines to two separate motorists who they caught driving from London to various parts of Co Durham for a flagrant breach of the lockdown rules. I struggle to be able to square their circle with those findings tbh. If I were one of those motorists I'd be seeking an appeal.
