Dominic Cummings

Have you heard the explanation he has given?

@Eds Yes, I didn't hear him give a credible reason as to why his child was in much more mortal danger than other children in households with the virus.

Households who, in their thousands did the sensible thing and stayed put, knowing that the likelihood of them being totally unable to care for their children was extremely slim and that they were protecting the wider public by staying at their home.

Did you hear a reason why his child was so much more in danger than all these other children?

Quoting myself here but it seems to me thatbthis is the only question that should have been put to him.

If he can answer it with a credible answer. Case closed.

If he can't. No defence of his actions.

Did he give an answer to what made his child more at risk than other children that made it exceptional circumstances ? Anyone spot it?

If he didn't, anyone want to take a stab at explaining it anyway?

I assume the elderly man Cummings saw in a car park was the former science teacher who alerted the press.
What was this potentially vulnerable old man doing wandering round a car park himself?

FFS just look at all those people on Southend beach on BBC.

He’s not going anywhere, is he?

I assume the govt are just gonna take the hits until people get bored of hearing about it, which probably won’t be too long tbf.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often to be honest. Quite often a story breaks, it exponentially ramps up over the course of a couple of days culminating in someone resigning or being sacked. Half the time I'm sure if they'd just let it run another 2 days everyone would have been distracted by the next shiny story, and within 4 days they'd be "Dominic who?". Maybe a bit more special in this case given covid etc but the collective media and public often prove to have the attention span of a fish.

He is in contempt of Parliament - until he rocks up there and answers questions that Parliament has to answer there is no way he deserves this platform
You have a lot more faith in Parliament than I do. Politicians have been treating the public with contempt for decades. I have zero respect for them (of all parties) and even less respect (if that's possible) for the mainstream media. I am not defending Cummings just his right to defend himself.

Utterly contemptible coverage from the BBC, the immediate go-to was to "how has the Conservative party reacted?" cue 3 tweets from Conservative MP's, then on to former Press advisors to David Cameron and Theresa May. It was a full 13 minutes before they put up a Lib Dem. All this oil was topped up with an edited segment that excluded his somewhat confusing account of his child playing in the woods on his return from Barnard Castle when he only got out for a minute. The constant re-iteration that he was "interrogated" not questioned by the press was beyond supine. The message from the BBC summed up just now on the news by Laura Keunsberg, "conservative members inundated from constituents..." Her only concern is News management, not effective governance.

Simple question can his wife drive? If she can the eye test thing is the biggest load of bollocks going.

He states he didn’t find it reasonable to put local London friends or family at risk if they caught Covid from his nipper but obviously didn’t give a fuck about the obvious family gathering in Durham should they have to pitch in.
