You have a lot more faith in Parliament than I do. Politicians have been treating the public with contempt for decades. I have zero respect for them (of all parties) and even less respect (if that's possible) for the mainstream media. I am not defending Cummings just his right to defend himself.

Cheap, lazy, uninformed and dangerous rhetoric.

There are politicians in all parties who are principled (and some who arent).

Throw in the "mainstream media" nonsense - which presumably means you prefer your 'news' from non regulated, non fact checked online sources and you have the full amount.

The spread of rhetoric like yours leads societies to leaders like Donald Trump and worse.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often to be honest. Quite often a story breaks, it exponentially ramps up over the course of a couple of days culminating in someone resigning or being sacked. Half the time I'm sure if they'd just let it run another 2 days everyone would have been distracted by the next shiny story, and within 4 days they'd be "Dominic who?". Maybe a bit more special in this case given covid etc but the collective media and public often prove to have the attention span of a fish.

Can you run that by me again?
