Dominic Cummings

I am not sticking up for Corbyn or Johnson as credible politicians or the tabloid press.

But you go much further than that and stray into the territory of thinking they (all politicians) are all out to get you and conspiracy theories about all of the media.

You must see that, unless you are living in a totalitarian state, genuine, whole hearted belief in that stuff leaves society with nowhere to go other than - well towards populism and totalitarianism.

By his own admission, he had no symptoms when they traveled to Durham. So that's just not true.

He was in exactly the same position as every other parent when their partner first developed symptoms. Showing no symptoms, pretty certain they have probably got it too given that they live in the same house and hoping that they will still be able to look after their kid (which the Cummings were able to).

I'm sure you aren't suggesting that other people who find their partner has symptoms quite calmly reason that they are at little risk of having it, despite living with them.

So, again, how did his circumstances differ?

he actually said he thought there was a distinct possibility that he had caught the virus. He subsequently was sick.

I don't trust journalism and journalists either, some bought into that online rag The Athletic before they quickly realised it was up to the same thing the other rags were up to. If you don't viscerally annihilate without reservation the Tories then you're an enemy, politics is in the sewer with journalism and you stating that opinion is a reasonable analysis of the position we are in.

If you don't believe in the ideology fully and unequivocally then you must be somehow brainwashed, stupid or just plain evil.

I agree 100 per cent. The centre ground seems to have vanished. It has been replaced by propaganda from both sides and the media is a huge part of the problem. I think a lot is fuelled by hatred on social media which is heavily used by journalists and politicians. The last time I looked at the stats 90 per cent of the UK population didn't engage on Twitter and yet so much political debate is driven by it. The country has become a very toxic place.
There are some decent MPs and journalists but they have been drowned out. It's the same on this forum these days unfortunately.
