I remember watching that event. Trump's demeanour was very telling - and Obama's delivery absolutely brilliant.I usually find articles in the Independent a bit too biased but this one probably nails it.

Seriously, he is a mental midget...the Veruka Salt of politics...a man who was given everything and claims he made it all...the only man in the history of the Republic with 5 children from 3 different women, who claims he can simply "grab their pussies" (BEFORE the election) and then claim moral and intellectual superiority over all others!

He is a man child who has never heard "No" from anyone other than his father, who set him up to never have to listen to "No" from anyone else. The long shadow of his father created this monster, and his actions simply illustrate how Trump is living the life he needs to fuel his ego. At first, the election was about mutherfucking his political opponents and establishing a narrative that Bannon and the alt-right helped disseminate. Lyin Ted Cruz, Lyin Hillary, Boring Jeb, Little Marco, etc, etc, etc... all designed to create a narrative and then he has run with it.
His every utterance gets widespread dissemination, BUT the far right has already been conditioned to hear any dissent of his words as "fake news!" A recent NBC News report, which was confirmed by three different sources present, was recently said to be "fake news" on camera, because he thinks he can say whatever he wants and it will be taken as gospel be the deaf, dumb and blind 40% of ideologues who hate Washington DC.
"Drain the swamp" is all about getting the career politicians out of Washington and "taking back America" for.....well, WHOM, EXACTLY???
Trump is creating a country designed to serve his interests über alles. The Russian angle was all about getting the largest building in Moscow with his name on it. They dragged that carrot ahead of him and he crawled after it, panting and slobbering, while sending his kids to take care of it for him. It was a beautiful piece of Russian chess, and here we sit!
Bob Corker is now being lied about by Trump, solely because he has released himself from having to be under his thumb by declaring he is not running for re-election! Trump HATES people with the ability to speak freely, so tries to bully them into submission, believing his money and contacts will overcome anything you can bring to bear. In Corker, he is charging at a SITTING SENATOR WHOSE VOTES HE NEEDS TO GET ANYTHING DONE because he doesn't care about his or the country's political agenda...at least, not above protecting his own self image! He told another SITTING SENATOR WHO WAS TORTURED IN VIETNAM AND WHO REFUSED TO BE RELEASED UNTIL OTHERS WERE RELEASED that he "prefers WINNERS, who don't get captured!"

I found that overly wordy without saying more than we know really. I know its an opinion piece and not a journalistic story but still, i didnt find it it a great read in that it only describes what I know. I agree with all of it though. Strange thing, I was only talking about that night in the boozer earlier when we discussing Trump. I have no doubt that night when Obama totally pulled him apart was the making of all this. The problem is, Obama is light years ahead of him intellectually. Bright people have humour, understand sarcasm, irony, dryness, wit. He has none of that. Bullies dont. Ignorant people dont. Have you ever heard him be funny? Or be amused at something?
