He's actually claimed to know more than the generals about the military and that his military schooling was better training than actually going in the service.
On a side note, whenever I see this thread it reminds me of the people who thought it would be "funny" if he got elected. And those people aren't just here, there are tons of them in The US. It makes me wonder if they still think this is funny or if they've been able to look at things like a reasonable adult. I get the feeling that anybody that stupid in the first place probably still thinks it's hilarious to throw paper towels at people who have lost everything in a hurricane.
I don't know anyone who voted for Trump because it was "funny." Among the mostly-rational that I know, their votes were genuine anti-Clinton votes (the vast majority), or because they naively believed this snot-stained handkerchief would "change" when he got into office and become more "presidential", and they'd be left with his pro-business politics. My few pro-Trump friends/acquaintances -- who rarely said anything publicly during the campaign anyway given the general bent of where I live (very few conservatives) -- have all done well shut up about politics now. So I know they're embarrassed.
