Funny thing....believing in democracy will leave you wanting! Hillary garnered about 3 MILLION MORE votes than the Orange Abortion!So trust in democracy and if what you say is true, he will lose the election.
If America elected Presidents democratically, then we would all be lauding how well Hillary was doing with Obama’s rebuilding of the American economy!
There is a reason America is called a democratic republic, and people (on the right) love the Electoral College so much...because it is completely UNdemocratic and completely BIASED in favor of the Right!

Both sides have extremes. The difference is those of us on the center left look at those to the left of us and try to explain to them why their way will never work, while those on the center right look to their right and salivate, with the first erections they have had in 50 years, and then cajole and caress those on the fringes, because they crave the power they will be given by them...and THAT is all the marbles to the Right, because with power comes the ability to make the economics of America bend in their direction, through removal of government regulations and relaxation of the tax code to top heir special interests and higher income supporters (and themselves).Because the Democrats like many other left leaning parties, have one tool and every issue is a nail. That hammer is moral outrage and accusing the person of being morally deficient.
It seems to be the only way that they know how to win the argument, but the problem is that they're not winning the argument so it's pointless.
With Trump, they don't know how to fight him on an even keel because they setup Sanders to lose, who was the only leader they had that could actually do this head on. So now they try to take the legs from under him but this cannot work. You're not going to shame people out of voting Trump.
So they're like a robot stuck in a loop, endlessly repeating the same outrage increasing tactic to where it's now too much and they're becoming parody. It also has made Trump look like he's a victim which is the dumbest of all the things they've done.
The Right has lost all semblance of the REAL conservative movement in America (and even the liberals in America would be considered at least centrist in most Euro countries!), and has become beholden by the craven desires of the nationalistic wing of the party, with their titular head being a tit head!

So what, both Clinton's and Trump's campaigns were targeted to produce a win under the existing system. They would have altered their approaches to achieve a win under another system.

Yes. And he won. Why? I think it was complacency. A voter base who saw the outcome as so obvious they stayed home. And a lack of motivation provided by Mrs. Clinton. And the “fed-up-ness” of his supporters whom the world has passed by (anger is a great motivator to action). And maybe Russia.
But he won’t win the next one, if he even runs.
