Florida is the big make or break for Trump. Its Rep controlled so he has the advantage of dirty tricks, he 'lives there' when not in Washington (having abandoned New York where he has practically zero support). The convention was moved to Jacksonville where under normal circumstance that is a big statement about how critical a city/state is in a campaign however this is looking more and more like a liability.
The convention is in Florida as Trumps needs a win in Florida. Trump pressures Florida to stay open as he doesn't care about Covid. Covid spikes massively so that hangs over it.
Don't forget the convention is being moved from Charlottesville where Trump praised the both sides of the Nazi V's anti Nazi flare ups. The formal part of the convention is still to be in Charlottesville however the virus prevented a mass gathering so the party / acceptance speech has been moved to Jacksonville. This will coincide with the 60th anniversary of the brutal beating of black activists in Jacksonville protesting segregation that came to be known as "Ax Handle Saturday,". Is it a coincidence all these Trump events seem to fall on locations and dates that link back to the repression of black people in some way or another.
