Reposting this as, although it will likely get struck down as illegal in the courts (which will take time, also part of the Trump admin strategy), it is actually a significant development in the context of the recent antifa “rebranding” discussions and the Trump admin strategy to undertake “test waters” actions for creating more controlling powers for themselves.
These types of fascist transitions, especially from
Democracy (or democratic republic in this case), nearly always include many attempts by the aspiring dictator to throw mud to see what sticks, including the same mud over and over again until it stays on the wall. This is only one of many attempts to assume these arbitrary powers to restrict federal funding based almost entirely on the whim of the president (via the Attorney General).
The rebranding of antifa as anarchist, anti-American, vigilante, rioting, murderers has “allowed” them to take various actions to strengthen federal influence on local and state jurisdictions, and this new gambit is just another attempted ascent to the heights they are hoping to eventually reach. The action itself represents those heights, as it give the AG sweeping scope (see “(v)” of the order), it will just probably not be upheld... for now.
Look for more attempts to strengthen — or create entirely new — arbitrary federal powers of oversight and control over municipal and state jurisdictions leading up to the election.
