I went to a lap dancing bar in March, and there was a bouncer in the bogs selling, Viagra, sweets, chocolate, pop, small bottles of aftershave and offering to dry your hands after washing them after pissing!. Quite a change from your stereotypical bouncer.

He wasn't a bouncer, he was a 'freshen up' man.

Sweets, chocolate, pop in the toilets !!!!!.............not a bouncer nor freshen up man in my book

Nowt like judging people, ive worked the doors for 15 years in Manchester,Didsbury, Ashton,Bolton,

How many of these Billy Big Bollocks on here have had scrotes off their heads on drugs threatening them with bottles, knives etc, the drug scene has gradually got worse since i started in 1998.

Any of you dealt with 40 -100 City fans fighting with the police at Roses bar (nearly every home game in 1998 before Roses was shut down) when you got to get through the fighting to get the bar staff out safely.

Im not gonna deny there is sted heads doing doors, plenty of dickheads doing the door but the job we do is underappreciated for the shit we deal with, people complain about grief the police got but when i go on the door i havent got a cosh to help me and tbh most of the time the police are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

The irony of your post says a lot...

You call us for judging doormen/people..yet you then proceed to say that the police are as much use as a fireguard.
Deary me....

Wording wrong but you go on your Door Supervisor case and get it thrown down your throat that police and Doorstaff are there to work together, after a few weeks on the door that myth was smashed.

I worked along side the doormen on my familys nightclub in a seaside resort. The locals were bad enough, but in the summer with the gangs of lads that came down at weekends with only one thing on there mind, was a nightmare. The police were useless, with there "grey area" nonsense, and you felt like you had one hand tied behind you back. Ten years of stress you would not wish on anyone.

All I am saying is that doormen have set rules and so do the old bill. Of course both don't always follow them.
I know doormen face drugged up gangsters a lot of the time and it must be a thankless task.Certainly something I would never even consider

I did it in 1998 for a few extra quid to pay for away games, still doing it now, was only 19 soon found out what i let myself in for, 3 weeks into job April 1998 City and Stockport (4-1 game) 200 lads on York Street going toe to toe, barstaff running all over the place, love the job, dont get doorman or people in general going out for a fight, always a bigger Doorman always a bigger pissed up/drugged up customer,

Doormen can be violent and arrogant but some doormen are OK and really do try to help.

The amount of human waste that attack other people for no reason cannot be underestimated and if you throw alcohol into the mix we can probably see where the lines become blurred.

The bouncer/thug/dickhead in the video is an exception to the rule (And yes there are others) but due to violent dickheads who can't handle their beer, doormen are a necessity which for now we have to live with.
