Dortmund away travel advice please

I picked up a Ryanair flight from Stansted to Dusseldorf out early morning of the game and back the next morning for £50 including Ryanair's charges. Not bad if you can get to stansted.

take care. If they fly you to Weeze, you are 70 Kilometres away from Düsseldorf near the dutch border.

why would you pay 300 quid tho a trip when you can do it yourself, for well cheaper, ive done madrid for 100 quid and amsterdam dont get it

I'm sure Spikes trip appeals to those who struggle getting time off work or those who like to have things organised on their behalf.

Personally I've had some great trips that have been sorted out independently. I don't get the "hassle" bit. Especially in Germany where the public transport is unbelievably good and it's so easy to plan ahead.

We went to Munich via Zurich last year and stayed in two beautiful places (Lindau & Landsberg) en route. We went to Villareal (Valencia) via Madrid, where we had a great night on Gran Via as it was a public holiday the next day. For Salzburg, we stayed in Munich and visited the Olympic Stadium, watched a Bayern II game (League 1 level) at their original ground and had a brilliant Friday night with the locals.

Another advantage with organising it independently is you can invite and spend 2 or 3 days with whoever you want. You don't get that option with organised trips.

I can understand £300 for Moscow or Kiev, but not for Northern Germany.

Ok, were on a budget..... Just booked Ryan Air out of Manchester on the 4th at 6.30 am to Charleroi.... Only £46 Return 7pm on the 5th... Not figured out how were gonna get to Dortmund yet, so any help would be appreciated. I could drive it, but are there options from there on the train??

Also, any hotel recommendations??

4 hours drive with a car, train would be at least one hour longer i guess

Thanks for the info.... Is it Autobahn 90% of the way?? E42 I think...??

don´t now about the belgian side,

in germany it´s the A(utobahn) 4 Aachen-Köln (Cologne), west of Köln the A1 to Unna and than the A45 and the A40 to the ground. Driving time would be three hours from Charleroi, but you can be sure to add some 45 minutes stop and go in some parts of the trip (especially around Leverkusen)

Many thanks.....

For others who are interested, we've booked the flights from Manchester to Charleroi for £47 quid on Ryanair... Car was Euro 80 between four of us, plus maybe 20 euro each for fuel max and are staying at the Ibis Hotel Dortmund City for under 80 euro between 2...

So £120 ish each for flights, car hire, fuel and accomodation... Lets hope it all works out!!!

we fly from leeds bradford to dusseldorf on the sunday night.

can someone explain how the train thing works. is it right the train fare is included with the match ticket? is it true this is only if you travel on the day of the game? and will their be trains on back to dusseldorf after the game

if so we can book a hotel in dusseldorf for all 3 nights if not will book 2 and the night of the game in dortmund
