Dortmund Fans

We should do what they had to do and march the streets to get to the ground.

Utd away meet up somewhere in town every blue thats going or most of them anyway and march up to the ground.

Any other 'older' fans rememeber meeting up near the Star pub off Chester Rd and marching on to the swamp? Them were the days.

The Dortmund fans were overrated - Napoli showed more passion and Poznan were louder. It's alright having someone with a mullet and a loudspeaker telling you which of your 6 songs you should sing but they'd be fucked if they ever had an 'Alan', 'Grandma' or even a 'Berti' situation. Obviously I'm biased but no other club does spontiniety or humour like us.
Where's that fookin LIKE button? I like the last bit mate, totally agree :)

Don't think the police would....

The police couldn't stop it happening all they'd do is escort us I could be wrong though. Someone should try and organise it
That would look totally embarrassin in my honest opinion, plus dibble would most probs see it as incite...

...it's bad enough the coaches up the chester road of a D'Day, just man up n' go as you would any other ground !

some of the younger lads at Arsenal organise these marches now. They seem to enjoy them, but by the time they are in the ground it all fizzles out as they scatter all over different parts of the ground.

Proper home ends just don't exist anymore. Thats a big part of the problem. Fact is most noise is generated by 14 -25 year old males. They would be concentrated in home ends when I was a lad. Now they are dotted around the ground, assuming they can afford to get in.

Can you take the Dortmund v Munich argument to a site more appropriate please, this forum is supposed to be about Manchester City (and maybe their opponents).

Thanks.

Well said, mate.

Those German supporters of football are scary because they are just fanatics.
Several hundreds of thousands, wearing uniforms of their supporting teams, turn up to watch games every week with drums and flags. They just create a kind of atmosphere that resembles the one created by the Germans who fanatically worshipped Hitler in the Nazi period.

The worst post in this thread. How the fuck can someone who refers to colours as ''uniforms' comment on football culture or support? Have you ever been to a match?

You sound like a Yank jumping on the City bandwagon, or a United fan pretending to be a Yank who has jumped on the City bandwagon.

Who did you ''support'' last year, and would you prefer European football grounds to ''enjoy'' the kind of atmosphere that exists at Anerican sporting venues.

Nobjockey!

the police would never allow us to reach ot when there is thousands of utd fans on the forecourts and around the ground. they would hold us back near to kick off and then you will miss the start of game.
we did it many many times and that is what happened

Marches to the ground were common in the 80's when the football special pulled in. Problem was you had police dogs snapping at your heels from the moment you got off the train!

The march to the ground at millwall was interesting!

I also recall a run to the ground at Barnsley as 400 or so of us only arrived at half time due to a horse getting hit by the train!

Got in at half time to see a 0.0 draw! Those were the days.

Yes, I know. Another German Dortmund fan. Sorry for that ;)!

First off, I'd like to say thanks to all the brilliant city fans in and around the Etihad Stadium that gave us a wonderful reception. I've met quite a lot of top lads who were very respectful of our club and our fans!

I just like to clear some misconceptions about our Ultras (I don't belong to the Ultras per se, I simply know many of them as I travel to lots of away games) that seem to abound in this thread. I think it's wrong to claim that our Ultras are a bunch of nonreactive, stiff fans that lack spontaneity, wit and passion. Obviously, there are some ultras that are more concerned with their chants than the actual game, but most of the Ultras and us "normal" fans are just passionate about our club and try to support our club as much as possible while watching the game. We react as much to the game as you do!

How some of you claim that we lack humorous and witty chants/songs is also beyond me. Alright, I know that we Germans lack humor ;). But that's why we have German booze: to drown out the unfunny side of us. We like to ridicule certain Bundesliga players, opposition fans, the ref, even ourselves sometimes and especially Bayern as well as Sch....04. Most of us don't take football too seriously! We did have some on Wednesday, but not that many as it was one of the most important games for us in the last years and you wouldn't understand them anyways (cause they're in German)!

I'm not saying we have the greatest support in the world and that we have the perfect set of fans. I think Eastern European fans, for example, are generally way louder and crazier than us. I also admire you English fans from some decades ago with an array of different fantastic songs (They also seem to be better singers than us ;) ). I'd also like to have more songs in the German fan scene, as most of our stuff is mostly chants and only 3 or 4 songs.

But I'd rather have many chants than silence, a couple of songs and some clapping in between, which is sadly the case in many English stadiums. So before you criticize us, you should sort your shit out first :D (no offense!)!

So hopefully I see many of you guys in our wonderful stadium!!

We don't really have a historical friendship club - not like Scheisse and Nurnburg, or Karlsruhe and Hertha. Having said that, we have recently struck up a really strong bond with Freiburg.

In last season's German cup final (where we battered FC Bayern ;o)) the Freiburg youth team were playing against Hertha in the German Youth cup final before the game, so all the Borussia fans went in and supported them. It was crazy, no Hertha fans, in their own ground, and 40,000 Dortmund fans cheering for Freiburg! The Freiburg first team coach then came and stood with the Borussia fans for the final.

So, what is with the we're not really here song guys?

Sch...04 never heard of it.

I think, it was not about germans don´t have funny chants. (That one of freiburg fans about Idrissou playing Champions League on play station was brilliant for example). It was about english fans having funny spontaneous reactions to what is happening during a match, a thing that is drown out by constant singing in ultra-style support in gemany.
