The biggest thing about Phil for me is the way he's stepping up in games like this - when the pressure and stakes are ratcheted up. He's really producing the goods and ending up in our best two or three players on the pitch. Becoming definitive proof that he's a world class player, or on the path to becoming one. Just makes me so fucking happy.

The difference in quality between players who can produce in these situations and those who can't is huge, which I think we again saw within the team tonight. The cream always rises.

I don't think the false 9 worked. It suited their defence to have us play in front of them. It was disappointing as Hummels has always been weak at defending when he has to turn. Jesus comes on, made the centre halves have to think about the space behind them and we looked more dangerous. I would feel a lot more confident if he starts the second leg.
