Douglas Luiz

His legs are going but I’ve said before that I’d offer him a one-year extension. He could help coach both Luiz and Lavia, and given the precarious situation in Brazil, I’d imagine he’d likely prefer to stay in England with his young family.
Couldnt agree more, and Pep clearly respects him hugely.

I am struggling to get my head around the belief he is leaving.

Has that actually been confirmed or merely speculated. I rather suspect that we’ll wait until the dust has settled on the season, Aguero has taken his bow, and then announce that Fernandinho is staying for another year after all.

Its why i used the word 'belief' as i have heard no definitive confirmation.

I'm still hoping its premature thinking.

Speculation at the moment but big wages and foreign spot likely to make it a tough decision I reckon.

Interesting analysis piece. Worth a read.

Ah sorry, mea culpa, I thought you had heard otherwise.
He has shown in recent matches that he still has something to offer on the pitch, but Guardiola has also been increasingly effusive about his role as an exemplar off the pitch. The fact that he's a polyglot and we have a growing nucleus of Portuguese-speaking players makes me think he'll take up a coaching role. Players such as Luiz, Couto, and those potentially coming from Fluminense would benefit from his experience.

Could be a cheap gamble for a year or so and could work out well for us, if he's not good enough we'll surly get our money back seem as he's a Brazilian international and still only 23.

His form has been up and down. Maybe expected because he's still pretty young. He's gotten a lot of experience since joining Villa. I think he can continue to ascend in a better squad and a better coach. At the moment, I feel he's better suited for Arsenal/Everyone than City.
