Doves

Shocked Martin hasn't toured. Very much the 4th member of Doves. Saw him solo at Chorlton Irish Club many years back. And knew he does a lot of side projects but going with Hooky over Doves is another blow. He joined them in the BBC Maida Vale session at least.

Jimi has done an interview recently here that's gone under the music press radar

Heartbreaking read tbh... living from couch to couch, struggling with death of close ones, and the getting by day by day
He doesn't want to perform, and nor should he. But this might be a good time to call the curtain on Doves and let him live a life where a spotlight isn't shone on him every time the band tour or release stuff. The brothers could maybe tour under an amended title so it's clear it's not the full band. Many have done it in the past. I don't think personally the current tour warrants £40/50 tickets. Maybe about £30 would be fair.
That interview with Jimi was both heartbreaking and funny.

I just wish him all the love and peace in the world and hope he overcomes his demons.

I thought the gig was ok but without Jimi it wasn't really Doves for me. I went to the album launch at a Jodrell bank which was great but I hope Jimi plays live again.

I obtained Cally & Lean Into The Wind as bonus tracks on the CD version of the album sold from the band's online store. Not sure if it's still available or the bonus tracks are available online as I only do physical releases.
I've just bought the digital version off doves website and got the extra tracks. They went straight into my Samsung music app. Cally is a great song.

Just seen they are playing at the Piece Hall next August. It's a Saturday and the season will have started so a bit of a risk getting tickets but should be a great gig if fixtures permit!

Bit of a random bump I know but just remembered posting this. City are at home that day but the 12.30 kick off so you could make a real day of it as there are still some tickets available for Doves in the evening.

Interview with Jimi.

Thought it was a bit sad seeing him obviously struggling but it's a big step forward facing the public and the media head on.

Hope he's recovering well and every day is better for him.

Saw that a few weeks ago and I'm a bit concerned for Jimi. He's always had a lisp but his words aren't sounding clear at all. He cited he wasn't interested in playing live in a Doves interview but then announces this side project gig. I wonder if that's because he's not able to perform? I was almost wondering if he's had a minor stroke. My grandad sounded very much like that but it might be nothing and hope its just an off day/has a cold etc.

At least the band has his back and continue to see him, and he's supportive of them touring without him.

Oh wow Jimi was there.
That's great to see.
How was it?

How was Jimi?

Anything said to suggest he'll be back doing the winter tour?
Yeah Jimi was on good form as was they all and was chatting to everyone and seemed better than previously, though the Q&A turned into him and Jez having a ramble on and off topic.
Martin Rabeski was with them too as they called him up to come down and said he is the unofficial 4th member.

It was a small exibition of unseen photos and gig memrobilia plus a viewing of a song they wrote 18yrs ago but never used and when doing this new compilation LP they refound and are releasing

Went with a couple of blues, one being Debbie (original moonbeam) she did ask Jimi. as he was leaving will he be at the Apollo, his answer was "we"ll see"

Nice one.
Was it sold out?

I'm hoping Jimi plays the Apollo, would be so good to see him back.
