With further revelations in the press concerning the financial meltdown at Portsmouth, the fact that the Premier League have been aware of their plight for a considerable time has us twitching a little bit.

As well as providing a "what if" scenario for what could have unfolded at SJP had Mike Ashley & his cash not come on board in 2007 (we've never got as far as defaulting on player wages) it's also a moot point as to whether the administrators should be in at Fratton Park.

Had Pompey been taken down that route last season, then the points deduction would have saved our Premiership bacon (even though we didn't deserve it).

Instead though, Pompey were allowed to continue and the Premier League admitted them for the 2009/10 season, despite apparently imposing a transfer embargo and now looking at exercising direct financial control on the club.

While Newcastle have been labeled as "the new Leeds" for their fall from grace and financial issues, the reality is that it's Portsmouth who seemingly deserve that tag - after signing players that they had no hope of ever affording.

The best we can hope for is that we pass them going the opposite way next summer - and that the current pain of austerity at Gallowgate puts us on a firmer financial footing in the future.

not just them.

Wet spam are still bobbing aloang with no official owner.

The hospital stuff does sound like a PR stunt. Unbelievable situation. Surely you do your homework on how much it costs these days to keep a Premier League club competitive. Even more so one with such a small ground and fanbase.

Beyond bizarre.

Fahim has now been admitted to the hospital as an in-patient, where he is likely to remain for several days.

And we all know you're not allowed phones in hospitals!

"Dr Fahim, this is John Smith at the accounts dept. at Fratton Park, that transfer never came through, and we're ready to click the 'make payments' in Sage. Please ring me back as soon as you get this message, players wants paying"
Bingo.

Re: 'Dr' Sulaiman al Fahim The Bullsh*tter ?

Fahim is the tip of the very murky iceberg at Pompey.
They were in the shit and selling players well before he turned up.

Who sold the chairman and fans the dream, and signed players like Crouch,Defoe and Diarra for top dough?
Who was the one who poached Cole and James, after telling us that Portsmouth were a "club on the up?"
Who was the one who came back later for Distin and Dunne, with the same old lines?
Who jumped ship to the hated local rivals, relegated them then ran straight back to Pompey?
Who was the one who fucked off to spuds when he realsied the money had dried up?

Who's on a tv advert telling us "there's no loyalty in football-you just do the best you can while you're there?"

Step forward Mr Harry Redknapp.

Guilty as charged.

Bang on the money (stuffed into stale brown envelopes!)

So, in the absence of Newcastle we have a new laughing stock of the league club.

Also, PMSL at that picture.

Re: 'Dr' Sulaiman al Fahim The Bullsh*tter ?

He makes Mike Ashley look like the owner every club wished they had.

Portsmouth Owner Sulaiman Al Fahim Hospitalised In Dubai - Report
LINK:http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...owner-sulaiman-al-fahim-hospitalised-in-dubai

Portsmouth owner Sulaiman Al Fahim is in hospital in Dubai, according to a report from arabianbusiness.com, where he is undergoing tests.

It is unclear as to what his specific health problems are at this time, though he has endured a heavy schedule of travelling recently.

The report comes in the wake of news this week that Pompey's players had not been paid due to complications arising from the lengthy saga surrounding Fahim's takeover of the club. They will apparently be paid in the next day or so.

A number of photos obtained by arabianbusiness.com apparently show the entrepreneur being treated by doctors, and sleeping in a room which appears to be an emergency ward, though he is not attached to any drips.

Fahim was last publicly seen at the CEO Middle East Awards in Dubai on Monday evening, where he seemed in good spirits, joking to reporters that he had collected “more air miles than a commercial pilot".
Wow, convicted crook Anil Bhoyrul continues to use his shit rag of a magazine as a personal PR machine for a glorified Ponzi scheme fraudster. Who'd have thunk it!!

Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

Re: Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

how but how did this guy pass the "fit and proper" test....FA I wish I lived in your dream world

Re: Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

I heard on Gilette Soccer Saturday that the people in question fill out their own "Fit and Proper" persons test which totally defeats the object imo

Re: Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

What was the point in buying them if he didn't have the money?

Re: Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

What a joke.

Imagine if this guy was made our chairman which was, apparently, originally the plan!!!!

Al-Fahim = Al-Fatty loser

Re: Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

He's a flake. He once fronted his country's version of the X Factor. It's ClownWorld.

Re: Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim to sell majority shareholding

the guy leading the consortium he is selling too is Ali al-Faraj, who apparently is the source of the 5m loan that is being used to pay the players. he and his brother apparently bid for portsmouth back in august, but the Gaydamaks refused to sell to them, as Ali's brother is currently sueing Gaydamak senior. Faraj is well off, and on the face of it the kind of owner Pompey probably thought they were getting in the first place.

One theory would be that al-Fahim purchased the club knowing full well he would have to sell it, knowing full well that Faraj would jump at the chance to get his hands on the shares.

Say what you like about Al-Fahim, but if this pans out he will have succesfully fronted two complicated deals that took Premier League clubs out of the hands of extremely dodgy owners. In our case we ended up with the best sort of foreign owner imaginable. It's too early to say what Faraj's intentions are, but I can find no black marks against his name, and he does have the resources to run a premier league club.

The real mystery here is Storrie. He has made a concerted effort to paint himself as the club's saviour, a miracle worker, and has implied that he was the one who would finance the player wages... but I find it amazing that he has implied Al-Fahim has failed to deliver on his promises, within a month of the guy taking over. Doesn't this amount to him saying he allowed himself to be hoodwinked? Surely, as chief exec, he must have had more to go on than promises. Maybe he was put in this position against his will, but still, his account of events is a little odd, to say the least.

And he's still up for questioning along with Redknapp.

The Apprentice, not X Factor.

It certainly appears that Al Fahim was simply acting as a temporary front for Al Faraj all along as the bent arms dealer's son wouldn't sell to him.
