Drink driving

Someone I considered a friend did it after a crate of cider and ran over a cyclist early in the morning. Turned the guy into a vegetable, not spoke to him since.

It's the biggest cunts trick going. Pal of mine was left in a very bad way over 20 years ago. It's just inexcusable for any one to do it. Prisons full or not I'd lock every fuckin one of them up. Or at least on your 2nd time.

The person who hit me paid the ultimate price as he wasn't wearing a seat belt either. Also because of his selfish actions that night 2 kids are growing up without a Dad and his family have lost a son and a brother. I got out relatively unharmed physically but mentally it has changed me. I have to live with his decisions every day.
That’s awful for you, mate. Says the kind of person you are that your thoughts instantly turn to who that **** has left behind and what they have to live with.

The fact the person paid the ultimate price is probably for the best.

I doubt you'd get away with it these days, with the high tech machinery they have now. Scoffing a bucket load of mints won't work now!
I wouldn’t do it nowadays. I wouldn’t have done it then, but tea was running late and it was a 40 minute walk to the pub.

I've just posted in the responsibility thread about a car accident I had earlier this evening
Two police officers attended and I was told another constable would be along and as standard procedure would breathalyse me
I'd was on hold to the insurance company when he arrived, so I shouted "do you want to breathalyse me now?" To which he replied "no. Its OK. None of us have a kit"

How about the thought of injuring someone or killing them .
I saw a few studies into drink driving many years ago and most drink drivers didn't consider injuring or killing innocent victims as they genuinely thought they wouldn't have a crash.
It's my opinion that governments over the years should have been banging on about being banned if caught even if they were driving perfectly but were hit by another car. Drink driving adverts should show a driver over the limit driving at an acceptable speed and being hit by a car emerging from a side road. 100% the fault of the other driver but the drinker would be shown waving his licence goodbye for a year.

My rag neighbours are a pair of massive pissheads who constantly drink & drive.
When not getting pissed in their house, they think nothing of driving the literal 2 minutes to the local pub, getting pissed there & then driving the 2 minutes back.
They have never been caught doing the drive to/from the pub.
However, earlier this year, after an all day boozing session at home, followed by the usual drunken row between themselves, the guy drove off on a Sunday night in a pissed up rage & his pissed up wife rang the police on him because she thought he was leaving her.
We were treated to the sight of him arriving back home with the police in tow, who then breath tested & arrested him outside his own house, in front of his distressed kids.
He got a 20 month ban & £1000 fine.
They kept a low profile after this incident, but it was back to normal within a few weeks & his wife now does all the driving to/from the pub where they both get pissed & she then drives back.
They have 3 kids & the wife is a nurse who used to work in A&E!

Bubble the fuckers with the cops.

I don't condone drinking and driving but it's gotten out of hand here in the US. If you have two beers you're probably over the legal limit so it just comes down to who the police want to pull over. I forget who it was but I once heard a comedian ask "If it's illegal to drink and drive why do bars have parking lots?"

There should be a difference between somebody who is hammered and somebody who had a couple beers.

There was an advert like that back in the 80s can only vaguely remember it but the drink driver kept telling the police they couldn't breathalyse him as the accident wasn't his fault
Obviously they did breathalyse him

Do people not get lifts off other people in the States?
