Dropping out of the top 4 - potential repercussions?

Probably the worst weekend since the takeover.

Pellers has to be held to account as he is the manager and will surely be sacked in May. However, Some of the senior players are equally to blame, mostly in terms of attitude, and should also go in the summer.
I see similar posts to this all over this forum. If you going to call out "some of the senior players" at least do us the courtesy of naming them.

I don't think we need to go overboard on this "lack of effort" thing.

Yes, you can see that perhaps some players are not giving it absolutely 100.00%, but it's not like they all couldn't give a toss and they don't set out to drop points.

The FAR bigger problem imho is that many teams have sussed us out. They don't allow us time on the ball, they defend solidly with backs to the wall and then attack at speed or with long balls. Do this and you are in with a good chance of taking points off us. Our manager seems incapable of realising this, or doing anything to combat it.

it has nothing to do with lack of effort

vs burnley i saw fenandinio running his arse off trying as hard as he could. along with varous other like clichy zabba aguero - the lack of effort reason is just an excuse from people who refuse to accept the actually reality of the situation in that the manager has got it completely wrong with the type of players he has at his disposal.........

i saw dzeko (and im not his biggest fan by any means of the immagination) constantly dropping deep in the first half trying to help out)

i saw kompany going full blooded into challenges, putting his head in where it could get hurt to try and get blocks/tackles in as well as clichy running his arse off, constantly making interceptions, tackiling on the front foot and nicking the ball off players and then busting his arse to get down the line to overlap

I saw silva and yaya constantly trying to probe for openings but getting hugely frustrated cause they were outmanned and isolated...how many of those surgin runs have you seen yaya make this season? i cannt remember one and he has had the chance but he knows that if he does and it doesnt come off then our entire midfield of one in the middle if he gets caught upfield is exposed..........he just phyiscally cannt get up and down as a box to box midfielder........thats not his fault..he isnt built for it

i saw navas dropping deep which eh does very well) and i actually saw him tryign to take people on (but this is not his game - he is a counter attacking player......his pace is pretty much useless when a team set all f its players behind the ball so he has no sapce to run in or into

the lack of effiort accusation is a very very poor excuse and completely wrong = its a throw away line that dickheads like Jamie Redknapp use to try and stir up controversy to create il feelings.......he knows next to nothing and anyone who uses this line likewise

They'll already have bonuses for top 4, top 3, top 2.

Agreed but surely the amounts would have been based on the fact that we won the PL last year so a 4th position would surely have been unthinkable at the time of its implementation so perhaps the majority has been skewed towards retaining rather than conceding the title.

Perhaps because of FFP fines and player restrictions the CL bonus target has been a little generous and the players see PL top 4 position bonus as only worth the effort they are currently giving ?

This is the first year of this bonus system and in other walks of life manipulation of the objectives by its potential benefactors is real, particularly towards the end of a project where financial penalties may occur for time over runs.

What a complete knee jerk reaction to a bad result. Yes we're shit at the moment but what is around us isn't good enough and we aren't going to go on that bad of a run to get sucked back.

Well the players will only get their basic if we fail to finish in the top 3. So that should provide the players with all the motivation they need to get their bonus payments.

look at the table, we have been pegged back, we are now in a scrap with arse, rags and dippers for the remaining 3 spots, we badly need a run of wins, never mind how we play getting them, just get the results.

Agreed but perhaps the money is not spread out evenly (ie skewed towards title winning). Why would City have decent money (based on other payments) for a position less than last year?

Maybe the current run of bad results will cause a redistribution of the bonus pot ?

If there was lack of efforts why do we outshoot, outpossessed our opponents in most of the matches and end up not winning.
