Dublin

The Quays Bar, Temple Bar Sq. - looks like any pub from the outside so we missed it a few times, when we did go in didn't want to leave so went back the next night, atmosphere is brilliant and great live music but we were there turn of August/September so not sure what it's like year round.

To be honest it's hard to end up in the wrong place in Dublin, if you go to a door ask the bouncers if it's any good inside or where to go - every single one was completely honest which took us totally by surprise (used to the usual miserable doorman here). They will tell you if it's empty inside, shit, where to go for this kind of place, that kind of place etc.

Also surprised me how many spanish there are in Dublin, must be a hotspot for em.

Few years since I been, but you won't be short of things to do or a drink! Wander round and explore - that's the best part. Loads of tourist traps and the most we paid for a Guinness/Bulmers back then was around 7.5 EURO in Templebar (serves us right for going down there). If you like a drop of "real ale" then Porterhouse (if still open) is a good spot for a couple of bevies. Another one I remember is Bank on College Green - was very nice.

Had a very nice, posh meal in Fire Restaurant and Lounge on Dawson Street (the old Mansion House). Kind of like Rosso (sorry) so might be nice to take the mrs there for a slap up grill.

Might be worth checking some review sites for all those as like I say this was back about 4-5 year ago.

I head to Dublin two or three times a year. I will second the Porterhouse recommendation if you want to drink something other than Guinness. Also the FX Buckley restaurant across from Christchurch Cathedral does an excellent steak, one of the best I've had in England/Ireland. And to top it off above the restaurant is a very good German style beer hall with a great microbeer selection. It goes by the name of The Bull & Bear.

Visit Phil Lynott's statue and then hit Castle Bar for drinks :)

I visited his grave too when I last went as I am a Lizzy fan but you want to have fun :)

whisky in the jar is one of the greatest songs ever made.

Expensive unless you're in the shithole north of the river and full of people who hate the English - what's not to like about Dublin?

You MUST visit Kilmainham Gaol. Fantastic tour. The best pub, and oldest, The Brazen Head. Forget Temple Bar.

Maybe they just hate you, which is understandable, as you are an ignorant racist bigot.
I must have visited Dublin a hundred times, and have never heard a word against the English.
I have family in Finglas and Drumcondra in the 'shithole' north, and they are lovely folk who don't hate the English either.
Unlike an idiot like you, who hates everyone.
So do us all a favour and take your fucking stupidity and prejudice elsewhere.

1st went to Dublin in 1992 for my Stag doo. Had a brilliant time , we played a 11 a side football match against Dublin branch of City supporters ( kicked their arse ). Wonderful place Dublin and Ireland bet its unrecognisable now from when I went .. Can only remember 2 pubs -O`Donughues & O`neils, also do remember there was a street of large houses where the basements became so called wine bars when the pubs were shut , think the street was called Leeson st ??? .
Oh also remember we started off boozeing in the morning with a cider called Stag , lovely it was but never seen it since ,wonder if you can still get it .?

I was working at Heuston station a few years back and hardly bothered with Temple Bar. Spent most nights in Ryan's, Nancy Hands or Brazen Head. All good boozers with decent food. Live music in Brazen Head most nights.
