The players look bored, tired, scared of making mistakes. I don't see how we will suddenly improve like some people are suggesting. It's not about taking chances, we aren't creating chances.

If anyone thinks having some of the best players on the planet hold onto the ball for 70% of a game is going to do anything other than convince the opponent's that they're better off camping in their own half and waiting for a quick counter then I'd love to hear that argument.

think it was the season where we won 3-0 one week then lost 4-0 the next...for about the first 6 weeks,we scored 49 goals that season.....

If you watch like when Sergio came on Pep is jabbering like a demented dervish and serg is not even looking at him. Seen the same every game with other players. I think Pep is borderline mad and the players haven't a clue what he's on about.

I've never once had a clue what Pep is trying to get over from the sidelines from lip reading or from his Magnus Pike like gestures.
But on the other hand l don't know what Foden means when he raises his arm just before taking a corner. The last time l understood what a player meant by this gesture was with Joey Barton where it was to alert the first defender that this ball is coming his way.

Will we beat that this year? It's hard to believe that in the previous seasons we have probably scored over 400 goals in all completions.

yep they are scared of making mistakes. That’s why the vast majority of them when they get the ball pass it immediately back to the person who has just passed it to them.

We have never seen teams line up the way opponents do against us now. Never. Pearce’s response would be to shove Eddie up front.

We have. They’ve been doing it for years. Teams are not defending any differently against us than they were since that run of games at the start of the 2011-12 season when we were scoring a load of goals. Ever since teams woke up to how good we were then, it’s been parked buses most weeks.

But we had any combination of Silva Kun Tevez Džeko Balotelli Nasri Yaya; Silva Kun Džeko Negredo Jovetic Nasri Yaya; Silva Kun Sané Bernardo Sterling Jesus deBruyne all playing well and combating those packed defences. With the rocks of deJong and Barry behind them or the best #6 in the world over a long stretch of those years in Fernandinho.

Now we have an older de Bruyne underperforming, Sterling underperforming, Jesus underperforming, Mahrez underperforming and Foden/Bernardo/Torres hardly in the team and mostly underperforming when they do play with Gundogan being the only shining light. And even if they were playing well, they aren’t as good as their predecessors. de Bruyne is the same man but he isn’t as good a player as he was three years ago.

It’s our regression that’s the problem, not any change in the oppositions’ tactics.

When hes out wide he plays the ball back to our "wingback", otherwise he fucks off into congested areas where he can't receive the ball.

And de Bruyne’s form has been poor and Kun has been injured, Walker doesn’t play every week and then you’re left with a world class ’keeper and a full set of not world class outfield players.

Sorry but we’ll have to disagree. Just looking at the goals we scored at start of 2011-12 and generally there isn’t the same amount of defensive players in/around the box

I would argue that at their current age and condition we have no world class players.

We have let the squad regress to a level where it needs a major overhaul.

Is Ederson world class? His national team manager doesnt quite think so?

Yes he has an amazing boot, and can place the ball anywhere...but i think his main job, of stopping the ball going in the net, can be sketchy....many of the goals he concedes are relatively straight forward....and more and more of his casual approach to opposition attackers is starting to turn against him

Overhaul somewhat needed, should be doing better with what we’ve got right now but you are correct we are still in all comps. But something needs to be done soonish to fix this mess

with so many players underperforming, the lack of any sort of variety or creativity in our play, points to a break-down between manager and team, imo.
Fixing the problem is not going to be signing a centre-forward, playing more youth teamers, Kev suddenly becoming his old persona. The board have a major decision to make.....
