Dunne and Dusted

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I would not dispute many of your points Kramer but it is easy to forget what an average team we have had over the last 30+ years and the contribution by Dunne to keeping us up during his time with us.

As for the SGE revolt I think we all revolted against Franks treatment of SGE and our club at the time; short memory syndrome.

Dunne deserves the money he gets more than some of the new blow ins, and any player with 9 years service (unheard of these days in main) deserves to get a proper fans send off.

Remember Hughes went to great lenghts to retain him last year, because he knew failings and all he was a key player and even kept him as our captain.

My view on SGE is that Frank was trying to be fair to him by letting him know that he was on his bike at the end of the season and it was SGE who made it public I think Frank was right he should have waited for teh season to end though

What do you suggest this proper send off should be? I would go along with anything as long as any monies raised went to charity Dunne has been and will continue to be well rewarded for his service

Hughes went to great lengths to keep Dunne as at the time because it was his best option, he has also been fair to every squad member in giving them a chance

I would expect the "new blow ins" to contribute more eventually than Dunne has

Kramer, I accept the new blow ins should be an improvement on what we had, no dispute there and Dunne is a different playing style to Lescott. All that should have happened was Dunne should have been allowed to say his farewell on the pitch to the fans in his last game for us, not leaving in between games (back door).

As for money thats for Dunne and Club, point I am making is 9 years deserves good recognition and reward nowadays espeicially. The new players are getting it on the expectation they will perform better, not for loyal service over 9 years.

dunne has been an icon for the club. been with us through the good and bad times. but once a blue always a blue.

I did 20+ years at my last place, left on good terms and got sweet f.a. for my loyalty. Why should millionaire footballers be afforded more millions for simply changing employer?

Official transfer thread - post by Mystery Man, says Dunne is not confident of 1st XI football at Villa, though compensation agreed.

He'll never leave, never, ever, ever. :-(

Martin O'Neill has moved to compensate for the potential loss of Curtis Davies for three months with the £5m signing of West Ham United defender James Collins. The Aston Villa manager will conclude the transfer of the Wales international in the next 24 hours, along with a £6m move for Manchester City defender Richard Dunne to significantly strengthen his defensive options.

Still think its a mistake letting him go especially if we make little or nothing out of it. Hes still excellent cover if we can find a club stupid or desperate enough to take TBH we could end up needing him down the line.

If he has to go should have been sold to a mid table side like Sunderland.

We seem to pay big and get raped when we sell ; needs to be sorted out sharpish we are getting the piss taken out of us when we move players on IMO.
