Dunne Rejects Move

You have to applaud his commitment to the club and his desire to continue making an impact, but its likely he will lose his captaincy and starting berth this season. Tough break for the big Irishman, especially as the club were willing to let him go.

He would more than likely take a pay cut if he left and would miss out on his testimonial. Would you leave your job to work for an inferior competitor for less money? It's not like he's 22/23 and needs to prove himself. He's our only decent centre back (Ireland) so he has no worries about getting his game in a world cup year.

Maybe being with City over the bad times he may want to stay and see us have some glory
Fair enough, but if this story is true, then Mark Hughes disagrees. Manager wants to sell him (which means he's got someone else in mind for captain, and someone lined up for CB?), Dunne rejects move, fans reject managers judgment and applaud the fact the manager has been frustrated in the transfer market? ;-)

Brucie why let the truth get in the way of the heart warming story of Richard Dunne pledging his loyalty to City?

On the blue side the hero that is Captain Calamity, he fights the forces of evil and stands for all that is good about Manchester City! Fans turn up in their thousands week after week to watch the Captains superpowers that include being able to hoof the ball 70 yards and find the opposition with unnerving regularity and the fans also lap up the QE2 turn where if by magic it appears Dunne can manipulate time. The supporters also enjoy the Captains ability to find his own net with amazing regularity whilst not being able to hit a cows arse with a banjo at the opposite end. I think more than any other though most supporters enjoy his red mist superpower where by in an instant Captain Calamity can change the course of a game in the oppositions favour by needlessly hacking down an opponent, giving away a penalty, getting sent off and then laughing about it!

On the red side we have the evil Mark Hughes aka 'The Rag' who wants to ship out Captain Calamity as he is not a fan of the Captains superpowers as listed above. Strangely the only interested parties are Stoke and Sunderland however the Captain in true superhero stylee has shouted 'I have the power' whilst wielding a pint of Guiness above his head and has decided he is going nowhere as he prefers to stay in Benchville and collect his £50k per week.

Hughes who in some fans eyes can do no right now has a choice to make, does he back down to the will of the majority of supporters and allow Captain Calamity a place on the bench or does he risk incurring the wrath of many and tell the Captain to take his superpowers elsewhere?

Coming to a cinema near you!

Dunne is ultimately going to cost City best part of £10m by his stance, but his entitlement.

But please don't be fooled by pledges of loyalty to the blue shirt.

He held us to ransom last season to get a double your money contract, had committed himself to Portsmouth.

Dunney then rewarded us with the worst performances of his career.

And, now, he will sit out the final year of his £50 grand a week contract and move for nowt next summer. Seemingly costing City 4-5m in the process.

Added to his wages, its hard to hail his decision to want to warm the bench, especially going into a world cup year.

You have to question those motives - unless he is doing an Eto'o and wants City to pay him off as he has not asked for a move.

Also remember, this is the guy who couldn't give a shit in getting himself sent-off on the final day of previous season in 8-1 game at Boro. Just because Toxin was not going to give him what he wanted.

I was thinking more in terms of playing football and his status at the club, which are clearly taking a dive. I'm sure money comes into it, but I think its very cynical to state that's his motive for staying. Maybe he thinks he still has a lot to offer and can come back and have a great season??

i think last season was a 1 off for dunney (i hope) i keep watching the derby double dvd n he had the most amazing game at the swamp, he controlled the defence and utd didnt have a sniff most of the game if they did he sorted it out.
i think he has deserved a chance to be at city whilst we are challenging for trophys, if it wasnt for this lad we may not be were we are today (hes the only 1 left from the 99 team right?)

im so glad KK didnt sack him, he is one of my favourite players, and this is a chance for himsellf to lift a trophy for citty maybe? hes been through all the shit, i think now he wants a crack at the big time for real!
