I unashamedly want a striker, regardless of our league position.

Haaland would be my first choice as you know what you're getting.

This guy, to me, seems like someone who would go to an Arsenal etc and either be a Lacazette type signing or someone you wish you had gotten before they moved there.

I don't know why people are losing patience. yea, we could use a striker, but we're also doing just fine at the moment, and I am not in any rush to sign the first one that comes available. more than happy to wait until the summer, try and get haaland and prepare a plan B if not. plenty of fish in the sea!

This is a tweet I really found interesting having seen a lot of overperforming xG shouts against Vlahohic.
The comparison with Belotti makes me a bit nervous because I do watch a little Seria A because of him and the league is dangerously slow.

We have a decent scouting department so if we eventually go for him, we would be fine because of the chances we create.
I worry about what happens after Pep leaves and we don't have an out of this world striker as we had in Aguero who was unperturbed by who the manager is and just creates goals out of nowhere.

I don`t understand why overperforming your xG is a negative thing. If anything, it just shows he`s clinical.
At 21 he`s very young and has loads of time to improve, but somehow he still has 46 goals and 7 assists for club and country since the start of last season. Put him in a side with the likes of KDB, Bernardo, Foden and Mahrez and you`ll have the recipe for something very dangerous. The quality of the Fiorentina team is shocking, they finished 13th last season, and he`s still broken Ronaldo's goal-scoring record in Italy. And Serie A is not that bad. It`s certainly below the level of the PL, but there have been plenty of successful transfers from Serie A to PL in the last couple of seasons. Jorginho, Alisson, Cancelo and Salah amongst others

More its an anomoly in his usual numbers. He's had been bang on or under his xG for every season so far in his career, only Haaland and Messi have consistantly been over. Lewa has had one season over at the rate he is.

Its also on par for a few strikers that have a one season wonder season (Jovic, Piatek, Silva etc) so it maybe a breakout season for him but its right on the stat curve of one off season which makes those interested in stats sidethink 70m is a risk when its much more likely he drops back to his usual rate again.

This is mostly right though good finishers can sustainably over perform xG by around 10-20% it’s really noisy and what generally differentiates strikers, as you say, is that some are better at creating great chances than others.

I think he's at 60% for this season.

*as I understand it, please see much smarter people than mre for clarification.

Martial
Joao Felix
Haaland
Martinelli
Mcatee
Delap
Vlahovic
Never Kane
Martinelli looks great.....aggresive, pacy, good in tight spaces, good finisher Reckon Pep could turn him into a beast...not sure Arsenal would sell to us

Martials attitude is all wrong and he isnt good enough all around for Pep

Felix is way too soft for the prem

Will Delap make the jump...?????????? is it just wishful thinking?

Agree on Kane...would rather have no one.

That obviously has a lot to do with the fact that he`s just 21 and had his breakout season last year
He was right on his expected numbers last season, hes well over this season every player so far bar Messi and Haaland have reverted right back to the normal in the following season, which is where most are looking at what he would usually be on and asking if it gonna continue,

Would we be chasing a striker with 10 in 18 for 70m etc

I’m really not sure you can take someones stats at 18/19/20 as a marker for the rest of their career.

if he was 26 and having a 1 off I’d agree with you
