True that you can't base a player on one game but the fact that he hasn't stated in like 5 games clearly shows that Mancini favors Balotelli and these are the performances that Dzeko should be delivering and showing Mancini that he should be NO.1. Silva's place in the first team is under no threat whatsoever compared to Dzeko. Also with speculation rife that he may move to Juventus and the fact that our interest in Cavani and Lavezzi seemingly intensifying, he should be stepping up in these games. But I do not believe that Dzeko was our worst player and rather Nasri. He didn't offer anything in the final third and always goes for the simple pass rather than trying to create a chance. Hasn't looked himself since he signed and when he signed ,I believed we would buy a player who makes something out of nothing and could score at any instance but rather than that ,he was no threat to Sunderland and wasn't going to create something had he played on. Another player who was disappointing was De Jong. He seems to have no place. Last season he was the spine of the team and would start nearly every game he was able to play. All three need to step up or face a long spell on the bench. On a brighter note, Kompany,Barry and Zaba all impressed me. Silva also seems ready and raring to go.

Dzeko is a player who needs a run of games. Not every player is suited to rotation. you cant be out couple of games and just come in and shine, then be out next game without being effected. Im all for rotation every now and then. But pretty much every top team has fairly settle team when everyone is fit. Too much rotation isnt doing the players a favour

Lack of movement in a team that plays relying on good movement is his biggest problem. He also seems to have trouble holding the ball up. I'm not a big fan though he has had some good games. However would always prefer balotelli over him.

If you really want to be "serious" then you may like to think again. The team played ok today. We should have played safer in extra time but they got a bit over excited. However, Dzeko had a lot of chances, some very good chances and he failed again to finish any of them. His movement and touch were back to last seasons worse and his demeanour was that of a man defeated from the start. He isn't pulling his weight and its effecting the other payers. We effectively have two strikers thanks to Teves being AWOL and Dzeko being so poor. This has left Aguero and Silva spent and turned Mario to cigarettes and god knows what else. Time to find another striker and leave Dzeko for the Thursday night euro cup.
