Earliest City match attended by a forum member

We’ve still not found a forum member who was at the Trautmann 1956 Cup Final, although one poster was at the 1955 Cup Final defeat. Anyone?

Jeez!
Two points:
Amazing some of you blues attending before I was born, and:
Sometime in the late 70's for me, but I haven't got a memory as good as you guys!

I was there. Went on York Motors coach, Charlton. I was 14, my mam saw us off, 9 o'clock Friday. Got there 8 o'clock Saturday. Wembley was like a dream . Bert hanging onto the nets - big Dave stopping everything. Still going now withs sons and grandsons.

I was there 1956, age 14. Coach from York Motors edge Lane, Chorlton. my mam saw me off 9 o'clock Friday night and I arrived in London 8 o'clock Saturday morning. Wembley was like a dream. Bert hanging onto the nets. Big Dave stopping everything. Still going now with son's and grandsons. Gets in your blood

Went to Bloomfield Road October 4th 1947. A beautiful sunny early autumn day

Got the Finglands coach (anyone remember them?) from near Birch Villa in Rusholme with dad & elder brother. Blackpool were crack team in those days, Matthews and Mortensen et al. We drew 1-1, think Morty scored for them. The rest of the game has disappeared from my memory, apart from the tannoy playing Glenn Miller's American Patrol as the crowd was leaving at full time. Strange selective thing, the memory. If I heard the tune again, I'd go back in time to Bloomfield Road on that sunny day.

I love this thread. I could dredge up some more old memories, but I won't bore you any more than I already have.

I went to both 55/56 finals, can’t remember if the coach was a “North Western” or Finglands,The lasting memory besides the football was the reverence shown by City,Birmingham, and Newcastle fans when the man on the rostrum started the hymn “Abide With Me””.Not many years after the war plus Korea, many fans breaking down with tears.Memories of Bert and also Big Dave Ewing late in the game. Now players go down at the slightest touch.Memories of a 9/10 year old. Thanks Dad.

Yes.
Fourth City match I saw. Two at Maine Road in between. But memories of both finals come more from books and youtube now than from being there.
