Earliest City match attended by a forum member

Unlike a lot of blues on here, City actually won the first game I attended - February 25th 1978. Brian Kidd scored the only goal with a header from a rebound. Always remember the newspaper headline the day after - “Kidd winner was offside !” complained then Everton manager Gordon Lee ( it wasn’t !!! ) Mind you - 1978 makes me a positive JCL compared to some on here...... is 1946 still winning ???

It must be. I'm the current holder and still cross that I wasn't allowed to go to the Xmas day fixture v Plymouth that year because I had a bad cold. Cross cos I wanted to see a team wearing green and I couldn't. (I was obsessed with football teams' colours)

Tell you what, Swifty, 1946... the club should be letting you in for free for that, mate! Well played.

Too bloody true, mate. Can you imagine the decades of torture I've gone through giving my undivided love and support for this lot? And now things are getting better (I hope) I probably won't live to see us rule the world.....

Good thread. I'm well beaten by many on here but the first game I can remember going to was a 3-0 defeat at Burnley on 29th September 1973. I remember it due to the level of abuse being dished out to Joe Corrigan, so probably a little before he turned it around!

1 week after me. 22nd September against Chelsea, won 3-2 I think. Programme still in the drawer.

Come on now, we're not far off global domination already... failing that you could always try cryogenic freezing...

May 69 - we beat Liverpool 1 - 0 - Franny scored the only goal. You never forget those games.
That reminds me of City’s first home match after winning promotion in 1965-66.

City started with a 1-1 draw against Southampton who had been promoted with City. One of a pals had decided to seek his fortune moving to the South Coast, possibly to Torquay, working as a plasterer. He had all his farewells at the Southampton match.

The next week City beat Liverpool 2-1 with goals from Colin Bell and Jimmy Murray.

Nick obviously reconsidered his move after this result and was back in Manchester three days later for the visit of Sunderland!

I can't remember the opposition but my first live game at Maine Road around 1954. Bert was in nets. Roy Paul, Joe Hayes, Dave Ewing, Ken Barnes. Can't be certain of the rest.
