I loved this, have recently rewatched them on uk gold.

There's a classic scene as Craig Cash's character is describing how to be a D.J to Liam and at the end of it Liam asks why aren't you a D.J now

"Dunno, work just dried up, like"

I know what the BBC is like and am amazed either show (The Royle Family and Early Doors) ever got commissioned. There's lots of backslapping and self-congratulating going on with new ideas shunned over repeats and remakes. Very few Oxbridge graduates would understand the humour behind these shows.
