Easy Meals For Uni?

Best get used to eating like that for years to come lad as there's no fucking job waiting for you, and you'll be thousands in debt once you've graduated..........enjoy!

Well done, mate. Uni years are great, you'll enjoy it.

Pasta and rice are your friends while a student. Always cook more than you need, then freeze the rest to be reheated at a later date in the microwave (especially when you've had a long day of seminars and lectures - or been out on the piss). Use tinned soups to make sauces, even the packet ones will work. Always ensure you've got bread, so that you can rustle up something super quick if you can't be arsed . As someone else said, mince is also good - very versatile and you can make loads of meat dishes with it. Buy those big packets of frozen vegetables - just as much nutrition as the fresh stuff and won't go off. Whatever you do, stay away from ready meals - they'll cost you a fortune.

Share ingredients as much as possible. Cook and eat together, shop together, stick together and things become a lot cheaper.

Don't get arsey about labelling food etc and always help each other out. With any luck your new housemates will become your surrogate family.

Help housemates on their arse but don't feed their guests. Always ask people to bring an ingredient round for tea (even if it's just a couple of spuds or an onion), then everyone has a stake in the meal and there's no guilt or disparity.

Find your local indoor market and the Scoop n Save. Get good at weights and measures. Use your freezer space intelligently and fuck the beige buffet.

Always have eggs.

Invest in a crock pot, put meat and veggies in before you leave for the day and cook on low all day, when you get in dinner is ready.

Every single lad not at his mams should have one of these. Especially if;

Food money is tight.
You're not a decent cook.

You can pick one up from most supermarkets for under £15

Spot fuckin on. Or a slow cooker.

I didn't do this at Uni, but I wish I had done - always try to eat something mainly salad/raw veg once a day.

Chances are you'll miss breakfast quite often - but you shouldn't - cereal is fine and you get your roughage and calcium etc.., and takeaways play a large part of student life, so at least one meal a day ought to be nutritious and slow release energy giving.

We now do a Big Shop on a Sunday, and buy lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions, carrots, peppers, etc.. and chop and wash them as soon as we get back home, put them in old takeaway containers and bang them in the fridge. That way it's a piece of piss to open the fridge and get the containers out like in Subway shops, and throw some of what you fancy in a wrap, or straight on a plate with a tuna steak etc.. - and of course if you're cooking a curry or something, you can use the onions straight out of the container so cuts down on prep time.

Finally, eat some fucking fruit, it won't kill you :)

Shop at aldi.cheaper than everywhere else for most stuff and even the beer is alright.their website has meals for each day of the week with the stuff that they have on offer I.e bag of spuds for 69p etc.good luck when you go and congrats for getting accepted.

Someone posted porridge oats. That, that and more that. Porridge is hot and good for you, eat that shitstir a bit of jam into it if honey, like me, disgusts you.

A chilled bottle of Frosty lightning cider is yours for £2-4 for a cheap drink at home

Buy potatos and fry your own chips. You'll feel like Bear fucking Grylls if you manage to make your own without starting a fire and they're really tasty and much less exspensive than frozen shite.

Frozen veg is good, very good.

Cheap Bread* and cheap beans real butter though, lovely beans on toast

*Asda and Tesco sell theirs cheap throughout and especially near the end of the day

Steal food from supermarkets, large expensive bars of chocolate are easily slipped into your trousers and are a nice treat!
