The steak was very nice, and for those eager to know, a classic peppercorn sauce, and some well cooked veg. Steak itself was a tad beyond the rare I was hoping for, but certainly not incinerated.

The man who suggested a brandy is a genius.

did you wink at table 5?

She didn't stay for dessert, so i slipped her a tenner and told her to get the first round in. I suspect she's warming the comfy seats by the fire in the bar as we speak.

top tip, write your room number on a napkin and slip it on the bar, I think the waitress liked you

A pleasure.

One hopes the 5 does indeed turn into an 8 and you get some back door loving.

-- Mon Feb 27, 2012 7:57 pm --

I've had to travel for work many times on my own and as you can see from here so have many others. It's perfectly natural to be eating alone in a hotel restaurant, the best thing to do is give off the impression that you are a Very Important Businessman.

This is very very important to do. Something big in shower curtains should do it.

The point being it wasnt the hotel restaurant as that was shit so he went out to a normal restaurant.

Really? Could you quickly quote the OP please as I'm too busy watching Coronation Street.

All that was meant was that its far more acceptable in a hotel restaurant than a normal restaurant but thanks for your narky input.

Tonight is one of those rare nights when I'm away from home for work, without a colleague or client to meet for dinner.

I'm in a depressing hotel restaurant, as I think that's marginally more socially acceptable than going to a 'proper' restaurant on your own. Also eating early to get it out of the way.

Bluemooners are a wide and varied bunch. Anyone face this situation regularly and have a strategy for getting through it?
get sacked tommorrow, go home order chicken tikka shaslick with a madras sauce, poppadoms, rice, onion bhaji and 6 stella. have a row with the missus and you can watch tell all night

Re: Eating on your own in public

I eat at a relaxed place where someone maybe returning from work may stop in for a bite.

I am not fond of poshing it as i hate the standing on ceromony stuff
Like the waiter bugging me "is your meal fine" well yes if you would piss of, and i know i am a retarded cretin but i think i can manage to pour my own wine now scoot.

I disagree, catheters are far more interesting, explain you are the regional sales director. Mark my words, she'll go weak at the knees

Apologies if I was a bit short with you, but I am a Very Big Deal in the shower curtain industry.
