Eberechi Eze

Don't try and switch to cost after other members her scoffed at you.

Yes, £80m was in your original post. However, the main pont of your post was this, "So, our recruitment strategy is to buy players from teams like Crystal Palace and Nott Forest. Interesting."

Take the loss mate. You said something foolish. Others pointed it out to you. Learn from it and move on with things.

Edit: If you were intending to use an ellipsis at the end of your sentence it is three spaced periods. There is a two dot period which is an "ellipsis lite" used to indicate a pause. The multiple periods you have used aren't part of any accepted rules of punctuation. By doing this, it makes you look up educated and fails to add any gravitas to your statement.
Not sure you needed the edit mate, you’d done him, then again … ;)

I think it’s naive to suggest we shouldn’t buy players from certain teams. Some players that’s how their careers go and shouldn’t always be judged where they are but how they play.

For every Yaya that came from Barca there’s a Kompany that came from Hamburg.

If the player is good enough they are good enough.
I believe we purchased a player from Plymouth once upon a time. I hear he had quite a decent career with us

Every time I've seen Palace, not loads admittedly, I've been impressed with Eze, Wharton and Mateta. I'm not saying that we should buy them necessarily, but they are all going to be moving on in summer to bigger/better teams.

Eze would look very tidy in our team, no doubt. He's decent on the ball, can pick out a pass and his general decision making makes him look like the type of player we'd go for. However, he's 26 and we're likely to have to pay a lot for him so I'm not sure he would be an upgrade on the players we've currently got.

Wharton probably isn't quite ready for us and will benefit from another season of playing every game but he looks a very good player. He's made the step up from the Championship to Palace no problem and I think he's got the ability to step up to our level. We can't knock the lad for moving to Palace as they were exactly what he needed. We would never buy him from Blackburn and play him.

Mateta is one I like, but again he's just a few years too old. He always seems to be a handful but knows where the goal is. I suspect he might be going to United/Arsenal in summer and will likely do well.

I don't really get the age concerns that some have. We have plenty of young project players and plenty of experienced players. What we're needing is a few more of those in the middle, that can come in and deliver straight away.

26 and it's not like he's been flogged at a top club week after week, season after season.

So, our recruitment strategy is to buy players from teams like Crystal Palace and Nott Forest. Interesting. 80 mil for Eze or Gibbs-White is absolutely mental. The world's gone crazy.

Stones, Ake, Grealish, Mahrez - all fundamental to winning the treble & multiple trophies. All came from teams at a similar or lower level than Forest & Palace currently are. Don’t necessarily agree with the fee level, but the team they play in doesn't matter - it's what the player can do

When those three leave palace I wonder who will be the next go to guy. They always have 1-2 very promising players . Can see Wharton doing another season there. Mateta is most likely top club bound. Arsenal wouldn’t surprise me here if they refuse to go for Osimhen/ Gyokeres.

I agree. He's 26, not exactly a pensioner yet.

He's 4 to 8 years younger than Bernie, Ilkay and Kev. I realise he's not replacing all of them but we still, in my opinion, are over-reliant on them. Their legs are done. Maybe they have a good game here and there but that's a "I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was," type of situation. I appreciate them but they can't be counted on. Eze still has a load of tread left on his tyres.

Moreover, they've won it all. The desire isn't there. Old dogs just want to lay in the sun. I believe Eze to still have a hunger for trophies.

Playing for those two teams and excelling is more impressive than excelling for any team that comes top 4 in any other league in the world.

You’ve got a hard on for fancy names from foreign leagues you haven’t seen play.

If MGW is considered an "attacking player" to replace KdB, I'd pick Eze over him.

If MGW is considered as an 8, who can also defend, I'd pick Reijnders anyway.
He is an 8 to replace over the next year Gundogan, Kovacic and Bernardo and at least 1 of our midfield incoming will need to be homegrown. The non homegrown spot is better used for the 10 KDB replacement maybe Wirtz maybe somebody else. Squad planning wise makes perfect sense,

Should have been bought last summer, I dont see it now - too late. 27 next season
hes a bit injury prone as well, and I dont see it getting better with age.

We bought Gvardiol after he looked fucking useless against us when we beat them 7-0 and he’s been our best player this season.
I actually don't think he looked useless against us - we just happened to be at our peak.
That said, if he's been our best player this season that tells it's own story.
I like the lad, and he's undoubtedly a great player, but you'd really want one of the players in front of him to have stood out.
Edit: back on point Eze isn't what I'd like to see in the upcoming window, but it ain't up to me
