22,000 children die every day from poverty in Africa, I don't see the Big Pharma companies advertising that as much as the cure for Ebola they can provide at a price.

Is poverty contagious ? Why haven't we been told about this ? Are we screening for poverty at the airports ?

I'm in Manchester airpot now and its got me thinking:

Surely the best way to stop the spread(if Govts are seroius) is to stop all travel in and out of effected countires. Anyone who has worked in such areas should be quarentinied in said country for 3 weeks before being allowed back home.

I know this will be difficult and affect economies but if they want to stop it, stopping people moving is the only way to do it

My niece is married to a pilot who flies a private jet for a wealthy Nigerian who deals in oil and pipelines. I was talking to her last night and she said that when passengers are coming through the terminal and being checked they are using one of those wooden lollipop like sticks when they look into your mouth but the frightening thing is they then use the same stick for the next passenger and the next and so on. Also if you want to bring anything into Nigeria then as long as you cross the right palm with the right stuff then everyone turns a blind eye and you can take anything in.

I dont believe that they would use the same stick for everyone. No one is that stupid, surely?

Mind blowing stuff if true, but then again a lot of Africans believe you can cure Aids with witchcraft.

My niece isn't one to joke and neither is her husband. He's worked in some top positions around the world as a private pilot and is currently located in Nigeria. If he tells his wife this is happening then I believe her as he certainly has no reason to make shit up like that to her. Now i'm presuming this must be on internal flights or being carried out on Africans only as there is no way a Western passenger would accept that being done.

Winter flu kills elderly, already ill and vulnerable people mainly over 75 years of age. It does not kill children and generally healthy adults.

I don't buy into the hysteria around Ebola, I think in 6 months we(in the west) will have found something to worry about

This could have been controlled striaght away if the West would have cared enough and if those in effective countries were educated enough around ways of contraction, stigma, etc and had better healthcare facilities.

I'm not advocating abandoning 'them' but if that's what it takes to stop the spread world wide then what else are we supposed to do
