Ebola Outbreak

Excellent they're hopeful of having a serum ready before it gets to the west. Also they have lots of guinea pigs in Africa to test the serum on before they have to use it over here. Good news all round, I think everyone will agree?
I hope they don't touch the Nigerian General who emailed me about depositing £20m in my account whilst he escapes the outbreak.

What? You mean we are not all going to die?!

Wow...never saw that coming...was the end of the world last week

I don't think anything has changed since last week in reality. They have a couple of vaccines that they are hoping to start testing next year but they don't have a clue at this stage how successful they will be. Also they are working on an antibody serum using blood of those who have survived ebola to be used on those who are infected. I don't know much about the serum in terms of its basic efficacy, whether it is something that would stop ebola spreading even if it was effective and whether they would be able to produce enough serum if it continues to spread exponentially.

Just like spanish flu, bird flu, foot & mouth and every other human race ending virus it will peter out and won't even be news in a few weeks...until the next apocolyptic virus kills a few in a third world country...groundhog day

Hopefully. I reckon something will come along and wipe out swathes of the world's population again at some point though. The odds are it probably won't be in our lifetime I suppose but to think it will never ever happen again would be optimistic or maybe pessimistic, there are people who think it needs to happen.
