Could we let Nasri go to United and bring in Hazard instead? I know who i'd rather have....................

A prove premier league player who has just found his feet in our team, fits in with our system, is playing really well for us, gets on well with the rest of our lads and has a great attitude.
or
Someone who's been decent in a shit league, completely unproven and without a doubt a massive risk at his price tag.

I know who I'd rather have too.

these stories have come from most reliable source so far, and the thing that concerns me is that they mention we have pulled out of the race, which is exactly how I thought it might play out, rather than wait on him to announce going somewhere else

same as kaka and sanchez transfers

still only stories though, even if his agent is meeting cfc, it doesn't mean his mind is made up
When we have pulled out in the past, we have made a statememnt as such.

On a more happier note my Rhinos mate as just phoned me from the Etihad going mental that their paying £4 for a pint and £4 for pie.

There is absolutely no good reason for Hazard to go to Chelsea unless they have convinced him they are getting Pep Guardiola or similar & several top class players.

They'll need that just to finish in the top 4.

Don't rule out the Guardiola bit for one minute, they're all over him at the moment, trying to change his mind about having a break.

He's the man they want and they're prepared to rip up trees to get him

Not ruling him out, that's why I said it ;)

You could see Ferguson switching to a 4-2-3-1? Along with Chelseas unnamed tacticless manager?

Doubtful. I don't think people realize how much the media is playin into Hazards mind games. We often blame agents and players for stroking the flames but this would be a lot easier if the fans just took the player for his word. It's not like Hazard dispelling his every notion to the media, and if he did it's not like his agents would be truthful.

It seems smart to me for a player to say hes going to United to grab more money from City's grasp. It also seems smart to include a tertiary buyer so the clubs know if thy both stand firm neither will get him.

Just wait and see. No matter where he goes he will get 35 total games at least in his preferred position. He will play in whatever free role best suits him as Nasri/Silva and even Milner have in the past.

Yes, that's a fair point about them changing their formations - but they haven't had the personnel to do it in the past, plus the 4-2-3-1 formation is proving to be the best.
Strangely, it was a formation invented, i believe, by Brazil.
Perhaps Fergie now thinks wingers makes his side too vulnerable? Certainly, the excellent performance of Young in that role worked for England last night.

I'm not sure about the agents 'trying it on' by offering their man to the highest bidder either - a very risky game to play IF he, hazard, had already made up his mind which he wanted to pick.

It may also come down to Manager's - or lack of them. Given that Chelsea don't have one and United probably wont after next Season. That sort of impending insecurity would play on a youngster's mind too I suppose.

Our apparent interest in Hazard and Kagawa would indicate that we're changing formation next season. Most likely for big games and in Europe, can still see 4-4-2 being used at OT against weaker sides.

He'll probably play him with Rooney in the same formations he uses now, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1, as Wellbeck & Little P are shit & he knows it.

L'equipe saying City have pulled out and he us likely going to Chelsea! I suspect it could be true as we are big on signing the right personalities and have a strong no dickheads policy.

with Tevez and Balotelli in the team I can only assume this is sarcasm!

I don't think we'll buy too many players you know. Season in, season out, we usually buy about four, I don't think it'll deviate too much from that policy.

Over the course of the last few weeks Hazard has dropped hints left right and centre

I will be playing in the Prem
I will be playing in Manchester
I will be wearing Blue

Hmm if he does end up at Chelsea he better keep to his word & be available for the games at the Eithad & Old Trafford *Grrrrr*

Actually, the 4-2-3-1 was invented in Spain by Irureta when he was at Santander in 93. However, it didnt really become popular until he successfully used it as Deportivo and almost immediately adopted by Capello at Real and Benitez at Valencia.

EDIT for more info.

A coach called Lillo has claimed that he was using 4231 at Cultural in 1991, but Irureta seems to get the credit for popularising it. According to Jonathan Wlison, John Toshack at Real used to play with two holding midfielders as did Co Adriaanse in the late 80s at Den Haag but this was more of a split striker system in a 4321 than a 4231. Veneables brought it into the English lexicon around 1996 but only as an experimental Xmas tree which was never adapted to 4231 in this country. We could have been 5 years ahead of everybody tactically with a bit more bravery.

Very interesting schtuff.

hehe, not quite the same isn't it? He said - Sanchez wants to go to Barcelona and that's it... soon, sanchez indeed signed for barcelona.

If he goes to Chelsea I don't care. ABU. There are some great alternatives out there for us.

I'm just hoping we have an alternative in mind and complete it quickly. We don't want the media to catch wind and add 'Man City tax' to the transfer fee.

I really think that if we sign Hazard we'd use him out wide (which is possibly why he won't come here if he prefers being in the middle). And the winger is one position not lacking in quality and options around the world... there are so many good wingers out there that we're spoiled for choice and not all of them would cost a bomb.
