I remember another keeper making a mistake in his first game ( derby as well).....we were all told he would grow...pep replaced him 2/3s of the way through the season and played Caballero instead.

He is 23 and you are getting arsey over his first ever game for us,give yourself a talking too

nope just saying it was a really poor piece of goal keeping and I hope he cuts out...it will cost us points

Fuck me, we've started on him already...........

He will do what pep wants and why we brought, he needs to learn the timings of coming out better which he will, the rest of his game last night was good and he made more saves than we saw most of last season,as with all kids patience is required and he will make mistakes whils learning, anyway i'm not going to bore everyone defending him come what may as that was really annoying last season with bravo, just give the boy some time

He got a load of stick in the post match thread as well. Some fans really do have a love, hate relationship with our team!

He's going to make a few errors in the same manner he did last night because he's a sweeper keeper. It happens, what impresssed me was his commanding of his area, and the confidence of his shot stopping.

So maybe I am over-analyzing this, and he just plainly shouldn't have come out but for the sake of conversation...

Here in the united states, especially where it's hot, it's not always common practice to keep pitches wet. At the game, they never ran the sprinklers in the couple hours before hand, and this sod is a little firmer (typically used for american football). The ball held up quite a bit. In Europe, when fields have shorter grass, and are typically more damp, the ball more often "skips". When the pass was made, I thought for sure Ederson would get there in time, until the ball bounced, and it was noticeable from the stands that it kind of "died" and set up in Lukaku's favor. Maybe I am overthinking it, but that was my initial reaction and the first thing out of my mouth when it happened.

On a positive note, the way he stops shots, he is sooo calm. If you can find the replay from behind the goal when he stopped Miki's shot, he was very comfortable in his reaction, no over-reaction. I was impressed on the whole for a debut.

Make good points. Cheers.

1. Manuel Neuer is regarded as the best keeper in the world yet he makes a few mistakes like this every season!

Actually - he does not - that mistakes are very rare with him. Bayern has about 17 goals against each season in the league - there is Neuer mistakes in it, too - but some of others, too.

But mistakes happen to every player - they are just costly with goalkeepers - if you leave your goal you have to have the ball.

You're being far too kind to some of the tubes that follow us.

This guy will be subject to intense media scruity, as there is an agenda for having him fail in the same way they wanter bravo to fail.

terrible for the first goal. doesnt need to do it and from what ive seen of him before he has a habit of doing it....needs to cut it out or we could have another train wreck of a goalkeeper on our hands......absolutely needless to be where he was....hope pep and the defenders gave him a bollocking

Simon Stone?

One mistake does not equal having a shocker. It's wishful thinking on the part of the red tops. Lucy Lu still had a lot to do from there. Looked solid overall. Very assured handling. Early signs are very good.

Doesn't it amuse anyone else that during the last couple of international tournaments Joe Hart was slagged off something rotten? That there were constant complaints about Hart's saving low to his left and distribution on here. Then he was moved on last season and the media and country as a whole were very offended. Bravo felt the pressure with not just the media but our own fans having a go, he didn't go from a Barca and Chilean keeper to shit for nothing. At this rate ederson will have the same with half of our own supporters piling on. Luckily ederson seems to have confidence in spades.

It was a friendly. The best time to test the water if coming out of the box is the best idea. I won't hold that against him.

His shot stopping, several of which were world class, and anticipation of shot placement are brilliant. He's not big, but his quick reflexes make up for his height and reach. Also comes out for crosses.
