Newcastle couple of times, Bolton, Barcelona, Bayern, Wigan, Arsenal, L'pool...

He "stood out" in these games did he?

By stood out, I don't mean "fluffed a bunch of chances". I mean "did his job as a striker". And I'm not sure if including Bolton and Wigan is really disproving my point here.

Most good strikers tend NOT to stand out. We're not talking your Ronaldo's or your Messi's here. We are talking your Gerd Muller, Peter Osgood, Martin Chivers. Your Greaves, Neil Young and Ian Rush, your Lewandowski, Manduzic and Thomas Muller. Their main strength is often the fact that they are in the right place at the right time and have the ability to make a finish look easy.
I'm not saying Dzeko has had a great season; but I am saying it is not necessary for a striker to stand out in games to be a good striker.

Greaves took players on with a great turn of pace as his biggest assest and Young was more of a winger.

Football has changed, one dimensional strikers don't exist any more at the top level.

Neil Young was an inside forward, not a winger

Why do people rave on about Gudetti ? How can they, based on one game they've seen him play for us ? Would anyone in their right mind really think that over the course of a season he's a better bet than Edin ?

Maybe they're just trying to demonstrate to everyone how much they know about our youth team.

Edin's world class.

Gudetti's potentially a half decent championship striker

A "half decent championship striker"?

Is that just a nice way to say a decent league one striker?

Do you base this on, as you state, the one game or are you trying to show how much/little you know about our youth team?

Yep he's been in shit form again this season

Only 18 goals so far

Let's really think about the games that Dzeko has stood out in his entire time at City.

Against Spurs a couple of times.
Against Cardiff.
Against Hull.
Against Blackburn.
Against West Ham.
Against Leicester.
Against Norwich.
Against Southampton.
Against West Brom.
Against Wolves.
Against United (once).
Against Aris.

He's playing well against shit teams in the majority. There's reason we can't put Guidetti in that role who has shown he can play well against that type of team , have another homegrown guy in the squad and save ourselves £5m a year in wages
You are forgetting Bayern when we played them in Germany, and Barcelona last week.
Of course he is mate.

I mean the de facto 2nd division.

I know fuck all about the youth team but I know that if a home grown youngster's good enough he'll be in the first team

And if they dont successfully break into their clubs first team then they must be lower league level, of course.

Just look at the likes of Alba, Fabregas, Matic, Arbeloa, Pique even arguably Anelka at PSG etc.

Im not saying Guidetti is as good or will ever be as good as those players but your ignorant reasoning is exactly that.

"Half decent championship striker" is your conclusion formed by your sum of "fuck all" knowledge of our youth team.

Aren't you questioning how and why Dzeko gets unfairly criticized and summarized? Probably fitting for this thread.

We're through the fucking looking glass here.

Apparently Dzeko not playing well is a sign that he's actually world class like Muller, Greaves and Rush.

Gerry Creaney must have been Pele in disguise. (He's a guy who played for City ten years before you cared who City were for you Bosnians out there)

Dzeko is very good player, especially when you consider he is not an automatic first choice., probably one of the best you could reasonably expect us go have in these circumstances. If he was any better he'd wanna be an automatic first choice of he'd be off.

Brilliant to start some and come on in other games, who realistically could we have that is better and would be content being a squad come fringe first team player..... Anyone, please.

Get over yourself Pudge you sound like one of these boring European football know it alls ffs

If those names you snatch from thin air really support your theory then they're the exception to the rule.

How old were they all when they broke through ? How old's Gud ? Anelka won the title at Arse when he was a teenager.

How many top flight goals in a major European league you reckon Gud will score in the next five seasons ? I'd bet you £10 now it'll be less than 20.
