Edin Dzeko (contract update page 370)

Re: Edin Dzeko

I can't remember another player like Edin, he looks like a Sunday league player with an hangover one minute, but then bangs em in when you need him most after you're just about to give up on him.

Say what you like but Edin hands over the possession to the opposition way to often. Out of the four strikers I rate him the least.

Yet when push comes to shove, he is the man who will get you the important goal.
Yer but maybe if he wasn't giving away possession in these games like it's for charity the team would not be in them positions.

Jovetic was an handful for Arsenal today despite the team not being great. Dzeko should be benched v Newcastle.

That just pisses me off because why doesn't he do that more often? Normally he just hovers around waiting for the ball but if he actually put a shift in and took players on like he did there he wouldn't have so many people on his back so often.

thougth exactly the same during the match...just dont understand his lack of effort sometimes......cause when he does he is a great player
he's always making off the ball offside trap runs, and conserving energy for counters like this one.. he scores important goals, that don't come easy..

He's not a player that can run full 90 minutes, but he has strength and speed to make that final run, or hustle in the box.. he worked really heard against Everton at Goodison Park last season and by 70th minute he was tapped out, absolutely exhausted..

I just don't think he'll ever be a player some would want him to be.

Dzeko is unique, leagues most consistent striker, frustrating or not, he will get you important goals if you get him service.

Take a moment to take his run into context. Arsenal were better than us today, we played more or less on the counter thus Arsenal had the upper. When we play most matches a season in these successful times for us, it is us who is pushing and pushing for majority of the match. The opposition therefore tend to sit deeper and hold tight which, as we all know, see's us produce less blistering attacks, therefore we tend to see Edin positioned more centrally.

It's not his forte to go running past players like that on the wing, it's not a strength of his. He has a solid pace and just because he did it once successfully, doesn't mean he can now go past any fullback in league ala Henry.

You talk shit and you are an ungrateful twat Damien10 and when Jovetic has scored as many important goals as Dzeko for us then maybe I'll start to take you seriously.

Seeing that again, it fucks me off even more that Yaya decided to stop running and not support him
That's because 9/10 times Edin would give the ball away in this situation. Tours knows that and that's why he never committed to making a run. Who can blame him.

I think it's far more likely Yaya gave up because he thought the pass to Edin was overhit, which it was, but Edin did a great job to keep it in and try and make something happen.

This, I remember seeing it in real time I thought it's going out for sure.

Re: Edin Dzeko

I've come to accept that Dzeko will infuriate and surprise in equal measures, so I don't get too angry about his half arsed performances anymore. I know he'll score vital goals for us again this season, and am pretty certain he'll start at Newcastle. And probably score.

We'd not have won the title in May without Dzeco's goals at Palace and Everton - his record of scoring important goals along with that of Toure speaks for itself.

Re: Edin Dzeko

Seriously fellas, are you all already laying on Dzeko ? It's only a preseason friendly, his goals pretty much won us the league last season. Could you all not wait before bashing him when we are losing games that matter? He may not be likable to many here but he is still the one striker back in action after the WC, when aguero and negredo are both injured/ off form/ rested. Jovetic is firing but his Injury record is still worrying. I say more than likely we have to depend on Dzeko so wouldn't hurt to give him some slack
