I can, not that I have that opinion but he's just that kind of player and he's not the only one in the world to be like. Just look at Mario Mandzukic last season at Bayern, finished their top scorer but was always doubted. They sold him to Ateltico Madrid and replaced him with Dortmund's Lewandowski. Whether that is the right thing to do we'll see, but Mandzukic definitely didn't deserve what he got with the goals he was putting away. But he's just that type of player

I see your point, but I still don't understand why people have that opinion of him after he proved them wrong time after time. If we god forbid signed Torres tomorrow they would put him before Edin in the packing order because he has "better touch". Edin's goals won us the title last season for fuck's sake. They should give him some respect. Ungrateful twats.

Every Bayern fan I talked to was quite fond of Mandzukic, and are all mostly sad he's gone, by all accounts he and Kroos had personal falling out with Pep, and it's why they are gone..

I do think it's kind of shocking that there are those who are doubting Dzeko after the season he just had before the new season even starts.

Re: Edin Dzeko

True fans don't doubt him, they just appreciate what he does best which is scoring goals, important goals at that. He is a 20-25 goal a season man and his role is as important as every other player. If his first touch was better, if he closed down quicker, it's all ifs and buts, he is a finisher and will be very important this season.

He's Shaun Goater (he used to play for City before 2010 for the Bosnians amongst you).

Crap player, scores goals. Some people like him for his goals, other people say he's a crap player and we can do better so they don't like him.

The debate will rage on with Dzeko as it did with Goater.

Re: Edin Dzeko

He had some nice passes yesterday but no service or opportunities to shoot. two defenders on him most times.

I think our wingers need to do better job crossing the ball into the box. We really seem to be missing players who know how to time a cross and deliver it accurately for our strikers.

That's just it though, he's nowhere near as crap as many would have you believe. His first touch isn't as good as Silva's but who's is? Dzeko's first touch is supposed to score goals, and that it does plenty. Of 26 of his goals last season 22 came from his first touch, those goals are unstoppable as they happen in a blink of an eye.

He's spent most of his career at City not playing at 100% match fitness due to heavy rotation and I feel is being unfairly judged because of it.

He's a beast of a player in his specialized role, and his role is number 9.

It's always an excuse and useless stats with you lot. Oh he isn't played enough, oh he doesn't have as many crosses as he needs, or he isn't playing the right formation, oh he is playing enough but not enough in a constructive sequence. He's the only player I've ever heard who needs exact, scientifically measured laboratory conditions to have consistent form. Nobody whinges that Aguero doesn't get enough game time or that we aren't playing "the right type" of football for him. He just comes on and plays well irregardless because he's a quality player. Dzeko doesn't because he isn't.

First touch doesn't refer to his ability to shoot, it refers to his ability to control a ball. He could have scored with 26 out of 26 and it means absolutely nothing. You're talking like first time shots are somehow an amazing trait that only Dzeko possesses when it's a perfectly normal football shot that every striker in the world utilises.

His first touch isn't as good as Lescott's, let alone Silvas.

Nobody needs to come up with excuses for Aguero when no one is giving him abuse. He's first choice when healthy, end of story.

Dzeko consistently scores the most important goals, heavy away goals and goals for most points, and yes 22 out of 26 goals from a first touch indeed is a special trait. It proves mental quickness and right positioning (work off the ball that goes unnoticed).

Re: Edin Dzeko

Pretty straight forward with Edin nowadays, when he's scoring goals you can overlook what he lacks with the rest of his game. When he's not scoring then it's frustrating and hard to see past. Lets give him a few games before we get on his back though.
