Effigy of Tevez torched as Daily Fail need another story

The following e-mail sent to Pennine Waterways

"There was a report in the Daily Mail this week about an effigy being hung and burnt from the Scout tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow near Mossley. You may want to check the bridge for any possible damage. The photographs were taken by a photographer from Cavendish Press (Manchester), you may wish to contact the photo editor Chris Rogers as I am sure he will be able to provide further details about who was responsible.

It will be British Waterways to check it out (Pennine Waterways is just a one-man love affair with canals) but the portal is a listed building, and there are bats so perhaps there are offences under Wildlife legislation to be investigated... Anyone live in Tameside and want to contact their Countryside department? Tel: 0161 330 9613 Email: parkbridge@tameside.gov.uk

I'm telling the Bat Conservation Trust!

Brilliant work guys. I know where scout tunnel is. I will go tomorrow and take a pic at the same angle as those shown in the papers.

Just a thought. Cavendish have probably sold those photo's to the Star and the Sun so they could be innocent victims in this. They have both run with the "near Etihad stadium" line so maybe Cavendish might have some explaining to do once they are exposed, as well as some fees to repay.

"Hello Rob,

You seem to know quite a lot about this! I am sorry, but Pennine
Waterways is a serious website about canals and I am not going to give
any publicity to what seems to be a Daily Mail stunt. Looking at the
photos, it seems rather unlikely that any damage to the tunnel resulted
although you are welcome to contact British Waterways yourself if you
are concerned.

I have done as suggested and sent the same e-mail to British Waterways.
