If true, the 31m figure is probably after add ons

It's still ridiculous though mate, I would not pay anything more than £20m for him.

stop moaning it aint your money we no to spend it like beckham!

I am just pointing out £31 is ridiculous for El Shaarawy.

If we end up spending that for him and find out later that we missed out on Isco because we would not match Madrid's £21m offer - which at the moments look like the reason we have missed out on him - we are going to look a joke and questions should be answered.

Could be city making a statement sign the deal or we move on.

I know the link is very suspect but a few points:

1) El-Shaarawy is 20. Younger than Isco. Younger than Balotelli and very very talented. If he appeared in an u-21 tournament he'd stand out

2) We need a striker a lot more than we need a midfielder

3) Strikers generally cost more

4) I suggested el-Shaarawy as a potential partner for Aguero before. Unlike Dzeko, and Tevez he is seriously quick, and an ideal foil for Aguero

5) I prefer him to Balotelli because he's a team player.

El Shaarawy would be a great signing for us because he is a striker with great movement and in the formation we are looking at playing, that will be very useful.
We wont be paying 30 million though, thats lunacy.

Yes. £31 million for a maddeningly inconsistent striker would be shocking.

£35m Andy Carroll.

The kid is 20 and scored a lot of goals for AC Milan

Andy Carroll isnt 35 million now though and never was in the first place. He is now worth 15 so around 20 will do for El Shaarawy.

Yeah but soon as Mario came in he pretty much did nothing despite still playing in the same position as he had for the first half of the season, he scored like 3 goals in the second part.

I would give him another season in Italy to replicate a similar if not better goal return, then I would consider blowing £30m on him.

Yes and Luverpool was soundly and rightly mocked. Just as we should be if we plop down over £30 million for El Shaarawy.

15 Million West Ham bought him which reflects his true value
