Elano opens account

If any of you could point out where he would have improved us in any of our 3 wins that would be fantastic.

Physical game against Blackburn? Nah.
Defensive performence against Barca? Nah.
Gritty performence against Wolves where every player needed to be commited? Nah.

Totally agree with you youth but it doesn't stop the guy from being pure class - when he wants to be that is!!!

He's a fantasticly gifted footballer, but rarely puts his gift into practice, making him look a pretty mediocre player.

Before you talk more stupid crap, look at where he's being utilised. In the position many of us thought he would be more useful.
Yeah fine, but at who's expense does he play?

A great player on his day, but he's not first XI. And unless we offered him that, he wanted out.

Ok, now here's the problem with that statement...

We played 4-5-1 last year, even putting in inferior players ahead of him, so Hughes could prove a point. That came at our expense and almost at his job. If we'd have narrowed our structure and played Ela behind the striker, I guarantee our fortunes would have fared better.

Fine, we have grafters now, but at the expense of someone who knows WHEN to unlock the opposition with a deft pass. What really irks me, is that many of this board said that Ireland could not be moved from the position he played, last year, to accommodate Ela's attacking intent, when I argued the opposite. Funny enough, isn't Ireland playing a deeper lying role, but STILL getting forward??

Fans know jack sh*t, when it comes to football!

I'm presuming then that Robi, Ireland, Tevez, Adebayor, and SWP are incapable of playing a killer ball...

Deary me Bigga. I know you love Elano, and I know you hate Hughes, but this whole "I'm so much smarter than you when it comes to understanding football" is pathetic.

You can praise Elano without criticizing the world and their mother for not loving him the way you do...;- )

Are we back to duelling?? Clearly you miss the point of what I was saying.

But, I'll let you work it out, yeah?

I knew after hearing he had scored for Gala, that the whole "we should have kept Elano" debate would start up again. The way people talk about him on here, you would think he was some kind of demi-god.
