I'm presuming then that Robi, Ireland, Tevez, Adebayor, and SWP are incapable of playing a killer ball...

Deary me Bigga. I know you love Elano, and I know you hate Hughes, but this whole "I'm so much smarter than you when it comes to understanding football" is pathetic.

You can praise Elano without criticizing the world and their mother for not loving him the way you do...;- )

Are we back to duelling?? Clearly you miss the point of what I was saying.

But, I'll let you work it out, yeah?

Ah okay, having re-read your posts i think the thing you're aggrieved about is that people criticized Elano last season for being ineffective, but you were/are suggesting that he was played out of position.

Beyond that, I have no real clue about what you're on about. You obviously rate Elano very highly, and others obviously don't. I think his move to Galatasaray has pretty much outlined where in the footballing world his level is...to suggest that the Elano/Hughes fall out almost cost Hughes his job is fucking laughable though...

I think you will find that the continuing stupidity of picking lesser abled players over Ela would have seen him depart us, had we not have had the showing in Europe(and the league to some aspect), that we did. You need to ask yourself, BS, why Hughes went back to Blumer if he didn't realise the man had skills enough for the team! I mean, he had choices as in Vassell, Etuhu and Weiss, in reality. The first two were p*ss poor, but he could've carried on picking them. He didn't, though, did he?

I don't think it's about finding 'levels', at all! After all, Ela scored in the Prem easy enough, when allowed in the best position. I thought/ think it was more about taking the first opportunity to leave.

Remember, Elano had to agree terms, as well, or he could have just stayed and played in the reserves, just to be awkward!

As you know, I'm not a Hughes man, like yourself, although I have said I will give him the chance to convince me I'm wrong. I've seen nothing, so far, that allows me to believe that Hughes has the skills to bring City to a place where our football is sublime! All he's done is buy players that are good in their position. There's nothing intricate going on, that you can say is down to Hughes' training/ skill drills. I'm well aware that it's early doors, but it's all very similar to last year.

So, you believe what you want to, as will I.

Actually, I'm far from being a "Hughes man..." - I just don't feel the need to criticize him for every decision he makes, whether he is right or not.

The truth is it became a moot point early on as to whether or not Elano had "the skills". He was disruptive, and openly defiant of Hughes during training, and generally was a bad egg and a bit of a shit stirrer. This was down to the demands Hughes placed upon players during training. Him staying at City was impossible.

What I've posted above is fact as repeated to me by someone in the first team. Never once was it suggested that Elano had the ear of the powers that be at City, or in fact that they have one fuck about whether or not he was good enough. His attitude wasn't, and that was good enough for them to back Hughes...

As for Elano being picked later on in the season - well, he was picked because he finally decided to put a shift in. Again, something born out by the facts. His latter season appearances were of a different level to some of the utter shit he produced earlier in the season (both in his favoured position and out of it).

Ok, now here's the problem with that statement...

We played 4-5-1 last year, even putting in inferior players ahead of him, so Hughes could prove a point. That came at our expense and almost at his job. If we'd have narrowed our structure and played Ela behind the striker, I guarantee our fortunes would have fared better.

Fine, we have grafters now, but at the expense of someone who knows WHEN to unlock the opposition with a deft pass. What really irks me, is that many of this board said that Ireland could not be moved from the position he played, last year, to accommodate Ela's attacking intent, when I argued the opposite. Funny enough, isn't Ireland playing a deeper lying role, but STILL getting forward??

Fans know jack sh*t, when it comes to football!

Superb left footed goal from Elano,!!! and I think your absolutely spot on with your evaluation of him.
The last line though !!! means, that no matter how hard you try you just won't convince some fans of the great talent he has. They just don't see it.!!!
Hope he goes on to better things with Galatasary. as he didn't fit the MH plan for us.[/quote]

Oh please forgive me, oh football brained ones for not rating Elano as highly as both of you. I feel worthless being in the presence of two great intellectuals, that make Albert Einstein look like Jonathan Woodgate. I must have been very mistaken, because I thought I saw more games where he was playing poorly, then great performances, in both his favourite position, and with his favourite manager Mr Sven Goran Eriksson at the helm. But of course! I am stupid and know nothing of football! I was probably mistaking him for someone else, being the simpleton I am!

You still havn't answered the question Bigga.

Where would he have improved us in any of our recent performences?

And if he couldn't get a game against Blackburn/Wolves, and wanted first team football, letting him go was the right choice, given that he has previous for being a disruptive influence.

he's got a left foot too, I see. when did that happen?

He used it all the time at City, could pass equally as well and finish on his left foot. Never seen a player as good with both feet (at City) tbh
