thats actually quite easy.....play elano behind the main striker with rob out left and swp out right....ireland plays next to kompany as the box to box midfielder...he can tackle, runs all day and will still be able to get into goal scoring positions as he has been doing.....elano furhter forward supporting the striker is his best position....when we are defending rob and swp tuck into the middle to help support the midfield.....balanced attack and defence with width when you need....compact when you are defending and pace and creativity up front...with ireland and kompany doing the graft.....A BALANCED SIDE!!!!

Look mate, I know Elano is talented, of that there's no question.
However, he isn't THAT good....ie - not in the same league as SWP, Ireland, and Robinho. I would love for him to close his mouth, and let his football do the talking. I would love for him to accept that Stevie Ireland is in the form of his life right now, and sit back and enjoy the ride.
He won't though. He wants to start every week. And because he isn't starting every week, he's sulking, talking to the press, and generally agitating the atmosphere in the dressing room. Now, that is unacceptable.
As you say in another thread, football is a squad game. Elano should realize he's part of a squad on the up, and just knuckle down, work hard, and take his chances when he gets them.
As for the Vassel argument....i can't believe how many dim witted people there are on this board. SWP has taken Elano's place, not Vassel. IF, and it's a big IF, we had someone like Diarra available, or even Johnson. One of those two would be taking Elano's place, and SWP would be out on the right.

Horses for courses. If Ireland weren't in the form of his life, Elano would be playing more. If Elano was more of a "box to box" midfield player, he'd be playing more. If Elano was as tenacious and as full of energy as SWP he'd be playing more.

Yes, and I'm not the only one. There have a been a few posters on here who have intimated to knowing Elano is becoming a real problem for Hughes due to his unhappiness at not being an automatic starter.

If you actually go to games, surely you can see that Benjani and Vassell contribute jack to our team, yet Elano (who starts for Brazil, that small football nation) is a match winner who sees passes that not many players can and then has the ability to execute them, finishes top scorer last season and is the type of player who excites you and makes you want to pay money to watch footy and here you are saying lets get rid in Jan. Great shout. Did you get Jihai sun on your shirt last season.

Yes, lets get rid in January. We can buy better....hell, in case you hadn't noticed, Stevie Ireland a HOMEGROWN PLAYER is playing fucking light years better than Elano. In Elano's position!
I think Vassel and Benjani are both shite. Much worse footballers than Elano. But they too will be sidelined come January.
