Elano

i don't want to get rid.. he just isn't a deep lying midfielder.. he needs to be left roam to be seen at his best, he is absolutely outstanding when at his best and absolutely dreadful when he's off, there is no in between.

He hasn't played well since the game against West Ham this season and his distribution from a deep lying role has been woeful. He tries speculative forty yard passes when there is an easier option. That's Ok to try once or twice but not every single time..

And on the tackling issue.. i'm surprised he hasn't got more red cards as he is a little bit petulant and likes to strike out.

you clearly know nothing about football and are unable to recognise a talented footballer when you seen him

Ahh, another Elano lover.

Look mate, I know Elano is talented, of that there's no question.

However, he isn't THAT good....ie - not in the same league as SWP, Ireland, and Robinho. I would love for him to close his mouth, and let his football do the talking. I would love for him to accept that Stevie Ireland is in the form of his life right now, and sit back and enjoy the ride.

He won't though. He wants to start every week. And because he isn't starting every week, he's sulking, talking to the press, and generally agitating the atmosphere in the dressing room. Now, that is unacceptable.

As you say in another thread, football is a squad game. Elano should realize he's part of a squad on the up, and just knuckle down, work hard, and take his chances when he gets them.

As for the Vassel argument....i can't believe how many dim witted people there are on this board. SWP has taken Elano's place, not Vassel. IF, and it's a big IF, we had someone like Diarra available, or even Johnson. One of those two would be taking Elano's place, and SWP would be out on the right.

That BillyShears is a top post that I completely agree with. Elano hasn't done enough for me since November last year to ever be considered a definate starter. He's had about half a dozen decent games for me, although I won't argue he's got bags of talent. It's not his talent in question though, it's his application. He could well be sulking his way out of the club and he'd only have himself to blame.

MH has handled this well IMHO and even though Elano obviously has far more natural ability than DV or Benji, the fact of the matter is they give a balance to the side that appears to go unnoticed by most. I used to think I was alone in thinking he was overrated but now it seems I'm not. It is a shame though because he has so much potential here to be a big player for us, he just needs to get his head around it.

Very well put

I think the word has already been put out that he's available in January. No-one inside the club is in the slightest bit concerned about how it may effect Robinho - unlike Elano, Robinho is an absolute model professional who has worked his bollocks off in training and on the pitch.

Robinho said in the press the other week that he couldn't understand why the manager wasn't playing Elano more.

I know, I read that also. I wouldn't expect him to say anything else, after all, Elano is an old friend of his.

But that does not concern anyone at City since Robinho is delighted with how his life at the club has started...

Well if SWP has taken Elano's place which in turn means he is weakening our right wing by playing Vassell then Hughes is a bigger idiot than I thought.

I actually don't disagree that if we had a Diarra in our squad then Elano would have to work very hard to get a place in the starting lineup but as it is Vassell is starting ahead of him (whichever way you look at it) and that's just wrong.

You have been regurgitating the same crap for weeks now Jay. You are so far up your own arse you don't know when your shitting and when your talking...

SWP IS BETTER IN THE ROLE ALONGSIDE KOMPANY THAN ELANO IS. VASSEL IS A MUCH MORE SOLID HARD WORKING RIGHT WINGER THAN ELANO IS. THEREFORE, ELANO CAN'T GET IN THE TEAM.

That doesn't make Mark Hughes and idiot...it makes you an imbecile for still whining about it. Grow the fuck up for fucks sake man!

Once again - There are better players out there. We can afford them. I would understand this argument more if the ADUG takeover had never happened and there was no new blood on the horizon.

I am just glad the man in charge has a spine, and wont bow to the demands of a 'superstar' and the thousands of sheep that sang his name on Sat.

Hypothetically, if MH had played Elano over Vass and we had lost, the 'Hughes out' brigade would have been rubbing their hands with glee. As it stands we win the game convincingly, yet there is still no pleasing some.

Only at City.

Now what I said was quite reasonable and yet your response is 'grow the fuck up'...you do the math.

Every time I post these days people like yourself have a pop and become arguementative. That doesn't bother me, it makes me laugh. Your opinion on SWP being a better centre midfielder than Elano where SWP has played twice and Elano is a Brazilian international is debatable at best. Your assessment that Vass is a better right midfielder option than Elano is completely laughable.
