Elano

Ha ha, yeah Ireland is having a great season our best player by a mile at this point but to be fair hes overdue. For most of last year he was poor. Elano hasn't ever played half as badly as some of our squad and he gets benched straight away.

Feel free to get yer knickers in a twist about what I said. Yes, he is a bad influence, because he's no longer our top dog Brazilian. Yes, I know that for a fact.

In January, he won't be the only player to go. Many of the other players who are currently on the receiving end of some harsh abuse on this board will also be gone.

To be fair to Elano, he can pass a ball at times. But he certainly isn't anywhere near as good as Ireland, otherwise, Ireland wouldn't be playing week in and week out.

We need a squad of players who are all fighting for the same cause. What we don't need are fucking mard arses who run to the press when they get dropped. That type of shit will kill a dressing room spirit very very quickly.

Anyway, as I said, barring a miracle, he'll be gone in January. By February most on here will have forgotten about him.

Who knows Billy , January will tell the tale unless you know first hand from those that mater that this is the case.

He strikes me as one of those players that needs everything going his way in order to play at his very best unlike others in the competition.

It's a man's game and the stakes are high so if he has any balls he will show management through his deeds in internationals and on the training pitch that he should not be left out of the starting eleven.

Who we sign in January is totally dependant on who is available and who we disgard is again dependant on who wants them and whether they cannot be of added value to the squad.

As many have said we need at least two players of quality with a winning and never say die mentality in every position before we can start to think about being successful and we are a long way short of that.

Unless he wants out, is infact a very negative and ongoing poor influence on and off the pitch to the club and himself and we can do better replacement wise which no matter your funds is no certain bag especially in January we would be foolish to let him go.

That recent interview is nothing but a bit of the old tripe I see nearly every week when a player who is currently not in favour is asked why he is not the flavour of the month.

firstly not 12 ......33 actually.....

secondly did you read what i put.....never did i say put ireland on a leash....put him next to kmpany as the box to box midfielder....where he will still be able to make the runs that he has been making.....do you have any coaching qualifications???...

I don't need coaching qualifications to point out the formation and line up you are suggesting is utterly, utterly, absurd. In fact, even a fucking rank amateur with a basic knowledge of the premier league would laugh you out of town.

Once more, so I have this clear. You would play a 4411 formation, with Robinho playing left midfield, SWP right midfield, and Kompany and Ireland playing in the middle. And you feel this would not be putting Ireland on a leash as he's a "box to box" midfield player?

Even the rags, with their array of talent, or Barcelona, would NEVER play like that. Lets try it with Barca shall we...

Midfield of - Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, and Henry, Then playing Bojan off of Eto'o.

Or with the rags - Ronaldo, Carrick, Anderson, Rooney, with Tevez playing off Berbatov.

Sorry, but I think you are talking utter utter utter garbage...

thats actually quite easy.....play elano behind the main striker with rob out left and swp out right....ireland plays next to kompany as the box to box midfielder...he can tackle, runs all day and will still be able to get into goal scoring positions as he has been doing.....elano furhter forward supporting the striker is his best position....when we are defending rob and swp tuck into the middle to help support the midfield.....balanced attack and defence with width when you need....compact when you are defending and pace and creativity up front...with ireland and kompany doing the graft.....A BALANCED SIDE!!!![/quote]

Too weak that team mate. Elano won't put the running or the foot in. Look at our second goal against Arsenal, can you see Elano tackling van persie and shruggin him off like shaun did? I can't. He likes space to operate but they won't give it to him: we found this out last year agains the likes of Sheff United some people have very, very short memories. You're talking about building a team around Elano when we've currently got a team built on a system. The second is the better option in my opinion. Elano is a good player but no that good. He's too inconsistent to be a world beater.

Ha!

You are fucking hilarious. You want Ireland, probably our best player so far this season, to be put on a leash, to accommodate Elano. How old are you - 12?

Why move our most consistent performer to accommodate elano?

Billy I admire your stance on Elano but you go on as if Ireland is much better than Elano when in reality if you go back to last season Elano's form was like something we hadn't seen here since Kinkladze and before. My point is Ireland's current form is sensational, similar to what Elano did at the same time last season so actually based on form for a sustainable period of time there's not that much difference between the two. There is the arguement that Elano wasn't very good in the last few months of the season but even then his all round contribution was still very good if you think about goals and assists. This season Elano has done very well from a slightly deeper role (certainly in my opinion at least. I thought he was excellent against Liverpool and don't think he's too far away from being a box-to-box midfielder who can tackle as well as he can pass) and deserves to be playing.

Some are making out that Elano has never made a tackle in his life.

He has done ok in a more defensive midfield role in the past, and did OK as a right back last season and he's not nearly as bad as some are making out.

And for those that want to get rid, we'll be crying out for someone of his ability if Ireland suffers an injury, suspension or drop in form.

Personally, against the right opposition I wouldn't have a problem playing Ireland, Kompany and Elano as a midfield three. This week wouldn't be one of those occasions, but that midfield three would be more than solid enough against the majority of teams.

Hey MC1 - good to see you back and posting.

The thing with Elano is that all the noises coming out of City are that the interview he did was a direct attempt to destabilize MH's position simply because he had been dropped for the previous two games.

Elano went on the record and said "I want the fans AND THE OWNERS to know that I want to play, and am sad that I'm not being picked." In the same week Hughes was flying out to meet the owners, off the back of some poor results.

Very calculated.

It's a shame that he has become so quickly so unsettled because he has undoubted talent on his day.

I think the word has already been put out that he's available in January. No-one inside the club is in the slightest bit concerned about how it may effect Robinho - unlike Elano, Robinho is an absolute model professional who has worked his bollocks off in training and on the pitch.

Robinho said in the press the other week that he couldn't understand why the manager wasn't playing Elano more.
