Elano

I'm a fan of Elano, but this wasn't the game to use to justify more playing time for him. It might've been his worst performance in a City shirt.

Your right, but both of them are crap and will not be in the team, after Jan

What a ridculous post. I simply cannot believe the way some people turn so quickly. If there was a World Cup tomorrow Brazil would be among the favourites to win it-and Elano would be in their team. Think about it.

Wish he'd sort that fooking barnet out...

Loss of form is one thing, sulking on the pitch is another. It's a year since he was the great player many of us thought he was going to be. His only role at City worth anything right now is being babysitter to Robinho in the hoipe that he won't go into a petulant strop as well.

Anyone who thinks Elano will be sold in Jan needs to think of the consequences of that happening. Robinho will have a sulk for the rest of the season, jo too, and most importantly we can forget about KaKa. So he will not be sold.

I thought Elano did quite well when he came on, we were certainly more attacking and looked a bit sharper in the second half. Let's face it he was always looking for the ball and trying to make things happen but theres not much he can do when theres very little movement up front and United have most of their men behind the ball. For me theres no doubting Elano's ability i just wish we had a striker who's intelligent enough to make decent runs (Well actually we have and he's called Jo just a shame he never gets a game anymore)

I could come on and try to make things happen, but it mean doesn't I'd have any joy. I think the majority of complaints are not about his intent but rather his execution, which was for the most part woeful.

I agree with you about Jo though.

When i talk about making things happen i mean by creating space for himself which he did very well compared to most players in the first half. Can't agree on the distribution bit i didn't think he gave the ball away that often, there was a few sloppy passes here and there but on the whole he did a good job keeping the ball moving but like i say it's difficult when United have near enough everyone behind the ball and our forward players lacked any imagination in terms of running beyond the defence

I know I said earlier in the thread that Elano had a mare today but that's not to say he's a bad player, but he's not the world class player that many like to make out on here. The fact is that for the majority of the time he's been at City he's been pretty poor. He had a great run of games at the start of last season and this season but for about 70% of his time at City, he's done nothing.

I'd keep him at City as cover for Ireland but I wouldn't be sad to see him go. This is not just reaction from today, I've said this for a long time.

Amen to that.

Didn't think he had a great game but we looked so much better when he came on.

Is trying a bit too hard at the moment imo, needs a run of games and he'll be fine.

We need to have a good squad not just a good starting 11 and Elano is easily good enough to be in our squad so i see no logic in getting rid of him in January

Unfortunately I think the lad plays best in the same place as Stevie, central attacking midfield. Unfortunately Stevie has made himself fairly undroppable for the time being, but you do wonder if perhaps he'll lose some form, or fitness. We need to keep Elano about and put him in that creative position again, let him spread the ball about, and give him a striker with movement to thread the ball to.

I wouldn't claim that Vassell is one of our better players and today he was anonymous. However I don't see Elano as the great player that some do.

Apart from one great pass to Wright Phillips all I saw today was one dreadful free kick as per previous and a lot of side passes which slowed down our attacks.

maybe because much of that time was against 10 men?

As daft as it may sound to some it was probably more difficult for Elano and any of the other City players to do anything with the ball when United went down to 10 men because they then left Berbatov up front on his own and put everyone behind the ball making it extremely difficult to break them down, at least with 11 men they would have continued to get forward and try and score the second therefore the game being a bit more open

Not read all the posts on here but Elano had the best passing stats of any player in the game (89% completion) and made more passes per minute than any other player in the game.

Stop letting facts get in the way of a good argument. Don't you know what happend? Elano made 5 passes that did not go to a blue shirt so he is shite. We expect 100% from him.
