Elano

I did not mention his performance.

I said teh balance of the side was wrong, and we only just got away with it.

You can't play 4 attacking midfielders in every match, and who can be left out? SWP, Ireland, Robinho or Elano?

For me it can only be Elano.

Funny that. Can you name me a team, in the top four, that plays with defensive mids, please?? As usually they'll play with DM and a CM/ AM.

Liverpool wanted Barry and Mascherano to play that defensive role, Carrick and Hargeaves have played togther too.

Name any ever to play 4 attacking midfielders.

Elano is not the best player in his position, Robinho is. To play him at CM or RB just to fit him in will not work away from home or against the better teams.

F&CK me 6 awful passes when we are 5-1 and you're having a blinder flog him and bring back Vassel all is forgiven

I wasn't having a go at elano, i was saying he played a few bad passes near the end, today he was one of the main reasons we won,

So why pick out the negatives out of an otherwise faultless performance, considering Robinho made far more errors and no one is leaping on his back

He is a luxury when you consider the other players in the team. A better team would have had 3 against us today, he will not play away on Sunday (unless Robinho is left out).

As much as I say I do see you have a point we are on an awful run why start messing with a winning forumula. We all know what big fat swetty sam will do the big hump up front. Surely an a player with the cultured foot of Elano can outplay the up and at em of a big fat swetty sam line up.

LOL! I see you used past tense for one of your selections! It's not just that Hargreaves is injured, but at least one of the those partnerships does NOT play as a DM in the match. You're talking about they have the ABILITY to play the role.

It's conclusive that when you play with TWO DMs, you don't tend to go forward as much as you could, posing little threat. A manager HAS to give license for one of those players to support the attck, thus nullifying the role of DM. It doesn't mean that those players can't get back to make a tackle, but essentially, they are the outlet and thus become the 'playmaker', which makes it RARE that they sit in front of the back four, for that role.

Our last away win Hamann and Konpany played there v Sunderland.

Hamann also played at Schalke.

Both no goals were conceeded.

That is what I think the correct balance is for City away.

Played very well today, the desire and effort he showed was noticeably greater. Credit to the manager if dropping him has had this effect!

Did you see the West Brom game? If we play with 2 defensive midfielders we'll hardly score a goal.

Ok, Black Cats aside(as they were BAD that day!) having two DMs for US and what we have quality-wise yields little in the way of invention and stifles the game for us, going forward. But, then, that's why you see Kompany blazing forward to try and MAKE something happen. Especially when having Hammy next to him.

That's the truth.

Just leave the Elano out brigade to it...no matter what he does he's in the wrong. How anyone can fault him after today is beyond me but they will. TBF his heading isn't the best.
